Having problems with CPAP equipment this evening it seems like I am getting interference from electronic equipment possibly video equipment from neighbors above me. I was listening to my music with headsets and I immediately experienced decibel pitch changes and I also realized that my CPAP machine was still at ramp of 5.0 it hadn't changed in an 1 1/2 hour which is unusual for me. My setting is for 5-15 usually for me within an hour or more it goes up to at least 6.0, my averages per my machine is 8.0 to 9.0 on a daily basis. I will note the last two nights I was away and didn't have my CPAP machine.So I am not sure if that would make a difference?? But I really did miss not having my CPAP machine and I am a little more crankier than usual. Has anyone experienced problems with their machine not kicking in when it should? I will try to unplug and start machine again [like a reboot i guess] Any help out there you can offer will be a blessing to me. I need to get some good restful sleep, I am still recovering from surgery on my right elbow 6 weeks ago, though it is healing well [and I was able to use my machine every night after surgery] I like to keep up all the hard work with OT and home exercises for my elbow, I have put into keeping my body healthy as well [mind, body & Spirit].

In addition to your experience, over the last several years, a few people have reported hearing music and other radio broadcasts coming through their machines while they were using them. Lots of weird things can happen with electronics.

Re: CPAP equipment and radio frequency interference
Still having problems with CPAP machine - 2 nights now everything is staying the same I tried reboot , different outlet etc.. still staying at 5.0. My equipment must be going out
I just got a different one in 2/09. I would like to get a better machine but I don't know if my DME will substitute Resperonics Rem Star for something else? Once again has anyone out there had problems with equipment malfunctioning. Need your help! Thank you

Re: CPAP equipment and radio frequency interference
Please take a few minutes to go through the options and settings in your machine's setup. Write them down and post them here for us to see. It almost sounds like the "Split Night" time may be set with some value.
Another question: Do you have the Encore software? (Pro or Viewer) That would help to tell you how your therapy is working.
Here's the instructions, if you didn't have them previously.
Den
Hold down the <- -> buttons while plugging in the little power cord in the back, wait for 2 beeps release buttons. Then press the + key to enter setup mode, use the <- -> buttons to move to the next field, use the -/+ keys to decrease/increase values, when set press the On/Off button to exit Setup.
Therapy Mode = CPAP/AUTO (If Auto is selected, there will be A-Flex or C-Flex options)
CPAP Pressure = NN (only appears in CPAP mode).
AutoMax = 20 cm (default)
AutoMin = 4.0cm (default)
C-Flex Setting = Off, 1, 2 or 3
Ramp Time = (0:05 to 0:45)
Ramp Start Pressure = 4.0cm (can be from 4cm to AutoMin pressure).
Mask Alert = On/Off (beeps on large leak, mask removal).
Auto Off = Off (turns off machine on large leak/mask removal) Suggest leaving it "Off"
Split Night Time = Off (options are Off, 120, 180, 240) Should be "Off"
Show AHI/Leak = On (enables logging to display) Suggest leaving it "On"
Patient Reminder = Off (days to remind you that you get a new mask w/Insurance).
returns to Therapy Mode
Pressing On/Off exits Setup
==========Resetting LCD Display Data====================
To reset LCD Therapy data (does NOT erase any data from SmartCard):
1. Hold down the (<-) (->) buttons while plugging in the power on the back,
wait for 2 beeps or 5 seconds, release buttons.
2. Press the (->) key and navigate to Therapy screen.
3. Press and HOLD down the (-) minus key for 5 seconds and/or until therapy data is reset to Zero.
4. Press the (->) key to scroll back to main menu, press (+) key to enter Setup or
On/Off button to exit.
