Today's My lucky DAY!!

Post by karessamom » Thu Aug 27, 2009 12:55 pm

I called the sleep lab to see if by some remote chance they had the report in--Guess What?? they actually had it in yesterday!!!
It has now been faxed to my dme and the DME has supposedly faxed it to the insurance--now i'm waiting for them to call me back to set up time when I can come in and get mask and equipment! I might actually be sleeping with a machine tonight!!!
I am so excited!

Hope it's not one of those mixed blessing deals; you get your machine, get all set up and then struggle all night. If so, we're all here....... Good luck on your first night and remember, you want a data capable machine!

I'm SO happy for you!

I will say - it was like 2 days total for me to get my machine, so if not tonight, you might be sleeping with it this weekend.

I know you've been wanting it badly - I'm so excited for you!

Ok I've now got my machine! I already have a question and can't find the answer--I have a resmed Ellite II is that the same thing as an S8 Elite II or did I screw up?? He said it was fully data capable and gave me a data card, however I didn't get a manual with it either. Wondering now if it was an older machine I got?? even though it looks brand new?? I'm assumeing it's the same thing but nowhere on the device can I find anything that says S8 --it just says Elite II and can't find anything on resmed's site or cpap site about it. They all say S8 Elite II -wondering if it's a newer or older machine??

If it says Elite II, you have the latest ResMed Model S8 Elite Series II CPAP machine -- everyone uses the shortened names and that can be confusing. They are coming out with the Model S9 maybe later this year...remains to be seen what they will be like, what they will do, etc. You have their EasyBreathe (TM) technology and the EPR with off, 1, 2, or 3 settings for exhalation pressure relief (the numbers correspond to the drop in pressure when breathing out).

Hi,

Call the Doc back and request a copy of both the sleep study results and your prescription. You have the right to both of those documents. Furthermore, with those documents you can order the items you may need. The study and prescription do not expire. If you choose, you can post a question about it and one of the senior members can "PM" with you and....

BTW Good Luck and stick to it.

I actually got all those from the DME, I just asked if i could get a copy and they gave one to me. I do have to call sleep lab because they (DME) didn't have a copy of the titration study report.

First night I think went pretty well! It was kind of hard to get used to a mask--it will probably take a little while--but over all I feel pretty good this morning even though I didn't sleep that great. When I accessed my data-- my AI was .02 HI 4.1 AHI 4.3 with a leak rate of only 0.04! I think i've got a little ways to go on the HI but it's way down from what it was! we'll see how it goes tonight! Off to accomplish much today!

You should have gotten a manual with your machine....see if they can get that to you somehow. If you need the clinician's manual, PM me and I'll get it to you. Great machine...love mine!

Congrats and good luck with it! Yay!

It sounds like you had a great first night! You should feel much better today. Leak rate is really good. Obviously, 0.0 L/s leak is best, but in my opinion, anything under 0.1 L/s is just fine.

Give yourself a good month or two to get really settled in.
Sleep well and live better!

Hi,
I'm one day behind you! I got my machine this morning! I am so excited and can't wait to go to bed.
Have you figured out how to turn the machine off yet? Simple, I know, but it just keeps running.

Congrats to you and good luck!

Cory

The big center button is the off and on. The screen will always have something on it even if it's not running, unless of course it's unplugged. The button says "start/stop" on it

The Series II machines run a bit to cool down the humidifer plate or some such; they turn off automatically. Or, just unplug it (it won't hurt anything).
