To answer your question OP. I have the S8 elite II and I have had no problems with it. (okay, I had a problem initially but got a replacement unit and have had no problems since)

read the instructions carefully as it can be operated several different ways

"S8" is the name of ResMed's current models; there are multiple models, each has a name for example Escape, Elite, AutoSet and they are currently offering Series II of their models.
