Re: POLL: What was your AHI at your diagnostic sleep study?
My AHI at sleep test = 17. Sounds very low, considering how awful I felt, and how dysfunctional I had become. My desats average was 94, with brief drops below 90. Enough over time to do a lot of damage I can testify. AHI avg now <1.
With some reporting AHI numbers over 100, is everyone reporting their numbers per hour, and not for the entire night?

Re: POLL: What was your AHI at your diagnostic sleep study?
My AHI was 93 at my sleep study. My RDI was 23.5/hr. REM index 42.4/hr, Apnea index 6.3/hr, Supine index 51.4/hr, Hyponea Index 17.2/hr. My lowest oxygen was 85%, which was in the REM stage of sleep (I got very little of that.) I had no PLMS at all. Total recording time was 353.8 minutes of which 296.7 was sleep period time and Total Sleep time was 237.7 minutes.
My AHI now is usually always below 2 and many nights the AI is 0 or always less than 1. I have been on therapy for 2 months now and I do seem to be feeling better. It is not something that I have noticed right away but the last couple of weeks I feel more like doing things that I haven 't had interest in, in a long time.

Re: POLL: What was your AHI at your diagnostic sleep study?
Am I correct here that Windmill is actually reporting an AHI of 23.5, not 93? I think some may have confused total number of Apnea/Hypopnea events per night vs. AHI (index), which is number of Apnea/Hypopnea events per hour.

Re: POLL: What was your AHI at your diagnostic sleep study?
Hopefully we are all reporting our index, the number of events divided by the number of hours we slept, to get the AHI (Apnea-Hypopnea Index), not the total number of events for the night.Georgio wrote:. . . 114.7 is my AHI, not the number of events for the night.
Thanks, Georgio. Good point.
Re: POLL: What was your AHI at your diagnostic sleep study?
I gave total events, percentage, and rate/hr. My test was 6.8 hrs. But, it was not a lab sleep study, it was a take home.
My AHI number isn't high at 34.7. Can't see how some of you can have an index of 100+. Wouldn't that mean multiple A+H per minute? Were you panting to get in that many breaths per minute?
My total was 236 Apneas of all types plus 70 Hypopneas for a grand total of 236 events. What is worrisome for me is the 45.8% of my apneas that were centrals. And, that my longest apnea was 44.6 seconds, longest hypopnea 67.9 seconds. That's a lot of time without oxygen.
Do we award a prize for highest AHI?
Happy Naps

Re: POLL: What was your AHI at your diagnostic sleep study?
I did put it as total events. My per hr. apnea was 6.3 and hypo was 17.2, total 23.5/hr. I think that is correct now. I should have read the first thread more carefully
TRT- 353.8/min
REM- 25.5/min
Non REM - 212.2/min
Obstr. Apnea 25
Cent. Apnea 0
Mixed Apnea 0
Hypoaneas 68
Total events 93
RDI 23.5
Sa02 High - 99.0
Sa02 Low 85.0
Sa02 Mean 93.4
They also highlighted that I had 31 snoring arousals.

Re: POLL: What was your AHI at your diagnostic sleep study?
114.4 on my original sleep study. Almost 4 years now on APAP and I haven't been higher than 1.8 in about three years. I usually run .8 - 1.1
Diagnosed with an AHI of 114! AHI now holding at <2 for over 4 years!
Re: POLL: What was your AHI at your diagnostic sleep study?
Yup. I had 68 hypops in 65 mins of sleep for my AHI=62. Plus, I had about 40 arousals associated with respiratory events and 10 or so spontaneous arousals...very sleep disordered breathing.Mr Capers wrote:...Can't see how some of you can have an index of 100+. Well, I guess gasping might be considered a form of pantingMr Capers wrote:...Were you panting to get in that many breaths per minute?

Re: POLL: What was your AHI at your diagnostic sleep study?
GREAT TOPIC!!
I will second that Yup Muse-Inc.!
I had my "At Home Sleep Study" done on: July 13, 2007
I had 49 (AHI) events in 39.8 minutes:
Baseline Oxygen Saturation: 93.8
Lowest Oxygen: 81.0
Mean Oxygen: 94.2
Desaturation Events: 297
Apnea Hypopnea Index A.H.I.: 39.8
Obstructive Apnea Events:49
Central Apneic Events: 5
Mixed Apneic Events: 30
Hypopneic Events: 200
Longest Event in Seconds: 88.2
I had my "At Home Titration" done on: July 17, 2007:
Sleep Time in Minutes: 333.5
A.H.I.: 3.1
O.A.I.: 0.9
H.I.: 2.2
Median Pressure: 6.3
Pressure 90th%: 8.9
Max Pressure: 10.0
Median Leak: 31.8
Baseline Oxygen: 94.8
Mean Oxygen: 95.8
I'm wondering if I need a Bi-Pap Bi-Level machine now, I was titrated at 9 and for the past year or so, my Pressure stays on about 11 or 12 but goes as high as 15, I feel tired all the time and i'm awake all night (sleeping Hot, then Cold) & moving the swift nasal pillows back in my nares, it seems I never get to sleep and when I do, I wake up either hot, cold, or adjusting!
I can't wear a nasal mask or a ff mask, been there, done that (bought em all), any suggestions???

Re: POLL: What was your AHI at your diagnostic sleep study?
Congrats on 2 years of CPAP therapy! I'll make 2 yrs next week!
Maybe a pillow mask just isn't enough anymore. What are your numbers now?
Sounds like my lose wt & develop lip leak backslide of the past 6 months! That leak saw a return of many of my pre-CPAP symptoms and exacerabation of my short-term memory issues and added a way too warm body while sleeping symptom. I loved the APAP doc loaned me to collect data & he wants me using one, but ins says no and I can't afford one right now...but my breathing was so much easier, sleep so much more refreshing, and I had much fewer wakeups. To eliminate the loose lips, I graduated to the Hybrid mask (covers mouth & has nasal pillows) which seems to be working as my daytime sleepiness is lessening, I am much more even tempered, and I am having fewer events that wake me up. I am now sleeping with ofe of this skinny vertical fans facing the bed and the remote on the night stand so when I wake up hot, I can switch it on.SleepyNoMore wrote:...I feel tired all the time and i'm awake all night (sleeping Hot, then Cold) & moving the swift nasal pillows back in my nares, it seems I never get to sleep and when I do, I wake up either hot, cold, or adjusting! How about a thread of your own with numbers and reports so we can see what you see? That way your problem will get the best of attention.SleepyNoMore wrote: I'm wondering if I need a Bi-Pap Bi-Level machine now, I was titrated at 9 and for the past year or so, my Pressure stays on about 11 or 12 but goes as high as 15, I feel tired all the time and i'm awake all night (sleeping Hot, then Cold) & moving the swift nasal pillows back in my nares, it seems I never get to sleep and when I do, I wake up either hot, cold, or adjusting!

Hmm. Female, hot /cold.... what is your age? Could it remotely be related to hormones?
If you don't sleep well all the great numbers in the world won't keep you from being tired.
Off hand (without seeing numbers or reports) you might just need a simple little pressure increase since you seem to be needing a little more anyway. Just a thought.

Muse-Inc,
Thank You for the 2 year "Congrats" & same to you
My numbers now stay on or about 12 to 15 (pressure and I have my machine set at 6-20 on auto with a-flex!
I have tried the hybrid mask about a year ago & ended up selling it to a forum member, i've tried the comfort gel to and my face & cheeks aren't shaped right, I get solid mouth leaks & air in my eye's all night long. geezzzz

Yes you are right, I should make a new post & quit hi-jacking this one...
Yup, female 55 years old, been on Premarin for years but just got off 2 weeks ago & started taking Estroven & Evening Premrose Oil.
My pressure stays between 12-15 now & I was titrated at 9, I use the M Series Auto with a-flex from 6-20 and I cannot use straight cpap!
