Intro and Who here has AHI 100+?

Post by Necro » Wed Aug 12, 2009 5:39 am

I have been lurking here a few months and decided to join.
I have been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea (duh, why else would I join?)
I'm 44 and I have been accused of snoring LOUDLY since I was in my late teens early twenties.
So I have been reading here and just wanted to say thanks even though you didnt know you helped, you did!

Just curious how many people here are in the 100+ club? My AHI is 126.6 OS was 65 ( No Kidding!)
Doc says Im lucky I have not had brain damage... or maybe I have!
Hey if you cant joke about then what good is it! When I go to bed my wife laughs because I do stuff like... "Houston CRRK Command Module is passing behind the moon CRRK We will talk to you again tomorrow CRRK..."

So with that comment I guess you can tell Im a full mask kinda guy.

My newly fired Sleep Doctor said my AHI was 86 with an OS of 74 and like the person above asked what are you now? I hope it is good.

I was 114.7 AHI. Last night my AHI was 6, which ain't bad for a ResMed-estimated number for me.

Welcome aboard the board, Captain Necro.

To be honest I dont remember what my readings were at my followup but I think it was in the 10-15 range (AHI) and O2 was at 96%. I know my sleep has improved drastically and one of the major symptoms of the O2 levels has passed.
At first they thought I might have diabetes due to the fact that healing took forever any time I was scratched or cut.
That was all due to the O2 dropping. I've been on CPAP for about 3 months now and its awesome.
I might even have insurance covering a battery pack for emergency use. KUDOS to the Doc for helping me with that!

Captain Necro????
I dont know where the captain part came from....

Howdy! My untreated AHI is 91 and I am 41 years old. So, I am close to you but I think you get the gold star (or medal of valor...or something).

(BTW my treated AHI is less than 5...usually in the 2 - 3 range.)

Sorry, I assumed you were captain of that command module if you were piloting it. I never could keep ranks and positions straight. Either way, I hope you continue to enjoy the nightly flights.

Hi, Necro, and welcome.

I was diagnosed with an AHI of 107 in late 2007. I've just started using the new Respironics FullLife mask (four nights so far), and my AHI has been 1.2, 3.4, 10.3 and 2.6. More important than the numbers, though, is that I feel like I'm getting very good therapy with this new mask. I'm sleeping more soundly, it seems to me, and I'm far more alert after just a few days of use.

FWIW, my AHI numbers were much higher with my Swift LT in recent weeks. Caveat: the LT was over six months old, and the pillows were failing me re: their ability to seal well. The highest AHI I saw was 68.8.

"Ground Control to Major Tom..."
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Dx 11/07: AHI 107, central apnea, Cheyne Stokes respiration, moderate-severe O2 desats. (Simple OSA would be too easy. ;))

PR S1 ASV 950, DreamWear mask, F&P 150 humidifier, O2 @ 2L.
