Chin strap rash?

Post by headbored » Tue Aug 11, 2009 9:01 am

I have tried 2 different chin straps and with both I have had a rash under my chin for up to a week that is very red and itchy.I washed them first and with the last one a resperonics I wrapped the chin cup in cloth and still had the same problem. Is this just me or have others had this problem?

Sounds like an allergic reaction.

Have you tried washing them? Have you tried washing them with an all-organic hypo-allergenic laundry detergent?

Could be the combination of your skin being warm, and rubbing against this fabric that is impregnated with laundry detergent is a bad combination. A couple of years ago I quit using commercial laundry soaps with phosphates and SLS in them, and most of my contact dermatitis and exzema has gone away. I only buy 100% organic, or I make my own. I go back and forth, depending on how lazy I'm feeling.

This is a great site to learn to make your own laundry soap: http://www.soapsgonebuy.com/

I also have very sensitive skin, and I'm a big fan of the Deluxe Chinstrap. I use it every night:

Best of luck!

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Thanks Babbette for the advise I guess it is back to the scrub board.I will try the organic soap first and if that does not work I will try your favorite chin strap as it looks like it spreads the upward force over a larger area.

Try to cover the chin strap with plastic or cling wrap. I have bad allergies, and have pillows, etc.... in plastic.

Take a look at the Papcap...It's cotton. More expensive, but I think it's worth it...Doesn't slip either.
