Keep up the reading, there is so much to learn and let sink in.

You have an APAP machine? That what shows in your profile. Is it set in straight CPAP mode then at 8 cm?
If so than you can use it in auto mode with a minimum pressure of 8 cm and a max of 11 or 12 cm. If you have no history of centrals the machine won't go where it isn't needed. Will give you sort of an idea where it tends to stay at.

Just a thought to put on the back burner for now. Never hurts to have a plan B in the wings.
I would work on mask leak minimization first.
Be careful, too tight can make it worse. Your leak isn't huge. I use just a little bit of Lanonish (the nursing mom's nipple oinment) and it seems to help get a little better seal. Don't use too much or the darn pillows slide all over the place.

I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

No, the cpap is set to 20 min ramping mode.

If I don't feel better soon, I'll increase the pressure. Need to read how to set up pressure.

I'll try some, for a better seal. Thanks for the warning, thought you were referring to my bed pillow That's what lack of sleep does.

Thanks for all your help, I'm sure I'll have more questions in the future.

I wasn't referring to ramp time. Ramp is comfort only feature.
I was wondering if you were using the machine that is shown in your profile (APAP machine) as a straight CPAP at 8 cm or if you were using it in Auto mode with 8 cm minimum and whatever maximum.
Do you use EPR at all? With Resmed machines that means a reduction of pressure on exhalation.

To be honest with you, I have no idea. Clinic set up the cpap.

I have no idea on this one either, just know it's easy to breathe in/out of pillows, when nose is not stuffed up. I'll take a look Sunday, and reply. Didn't spend alot of time in clinic menu today.

Day 3 - I'm Baffled

Post by Spirit » Sun Aug 09, 2009 1:16 pm

Day 3 of cpap treatment. Slept for 6 hours. My nose feels sore & broken. cpap set to cpap mode.

cpap data: yesturday > today
Leaks: .16 > .26 L/s
AHI: 8.0 > 2.6
AI: 4.0 > 0.0
HI: 4.0 > 2.6

Compared to yesturday's data, lot's of improvement, but my leaks are worse. Doesn't make sense. Is my cpap broke ? Still not sleeping full 8 hours. When I go to results > smart data > pressure is 5.8cm,. Does anyone know, if that is the pressure due to leaks. Prescribed dose is 8cm,. cpap shows 8cm after ramping.

Although my data shows improvement, I surely don't feel it.
