What do you tell your sleep doctor(RestedGal? or others?)
...when you go "on your own" and start setting the settings yourself on an autopap? That you found a message board where you get information on doing this? How do I get equipment when it's needed down the road? I'll check out "billmyinsurance.com" but I'm not sure the Boeing plan (Selections) will be covered for this...
Why tell my doc anything? So long as I'm getting excellent (self) treatment as determined using the SilverLining software, I don't need to say a thing to him.
Actually at my 3 week followup all I said is that I am totally compliant and that the software is reporting an AHI of around 5, sometimes lower, and snores around 1. He was pleased and told me to come back in 6 months.

Barb,
Are you concerned because you have a card with data that he'll see isn't set for what he set it at? If so, I can understand your concern, but is there anything wrong with doing some adjusting according to your own interpretation of the data? The worst that can happen is, he won't agree with what you've done. However, if what you did was to your benefit, how can he say anything negative about it? He still gets paid for your office visit, and unfortunately that's really what counts to a lot of these doctors. Hopefully not yours, but...

True enough *nods* I'll keep fiddlin'
Last night I set it to 11.4 (from 12)
results were a little puzzling...
AHI was way higher last night (49.5)
but the AI was lower (3.5) than when I had it set to 12 when it was 5.something...
I made an ace bandage to put over the mask (if I can figure out how to keep it from covering that pesky exhale port which is right where I need to put it...maybe I'll cut a hole in it LOL) to stabilize it as the "obsene noise" is keeping me awake Hope it works, that thing is NOISY

I either reset it back to his "recommended settings" a week or so before I go in once a year, and don't say anything and he doesn't look close enough at overall results to notice it anyway.
Or by the time I see him I have such a good batch of results stored up, that he can't really argue, and then I don't say anything, so he won't lose face and he just quietly tweaks his notes.
(notice a trend)
Of course "tweaking" your settings DOES have its risk, so I cannot condone doing such a thing without supervision of a trained professional.
