I used my nosebreathe for the first time last night and was just wondering if anyone else experienced discomfort from it the next morning? My tongue and gums were fine but the inside of my top lip was sore in a couple of places. Almost like welts or blisters as if the nosebreathe was shifting through the night and rubbing against the inside lip. The "blisters" subsided after about 9-10 hours but the spots are still very tender. I remember Kermit mentioning that his nosebreathe had a very snug fit. Perhaps my fit is not quite right , as I can detect movement when it is in place and there just doesn't seem to be the suction tightness that Kermit described. Can anyone help me here?
Oh....I forgot to mention how well the nosebreathe worked!
7 hours sleep (woke up 1x)
AHI 1.6 / HI 1.6 / AI 0.
Leaks 0
Average pressure 8.7 (My average is usually between 9 and 10.)
Feel fine today (other than the lip soreness)
With results like this, you can see why I'm eager to remedy the minor problems!

Hi, heretolearn. Used mine for the first time, too, last night. I had made a new thread about Dr. Sue's device this morning, but I guess ours crossed. I found mine extremely comfortable. I did wake up with my bite feeling a tiny bit off, but it went away rather quickly. I had no irritation and it didn't shift at all in my mouth as far as I could tell. Did you do what he suggested, biting down hard when you first inserted it, to make sure you got all the air out? That is supposed to help with its seal in the mouth.
I didn't mouth breathe at all last night. And it actually lowered my leak rate by 1, and that's hard to believe since I had been successfully patching my mouth with Tegaderm patches and never sprung a leak with them. I was shocked to see the number go down. Guess it was mask-related.
In any event, give it a few nights. But if you feel it's not right, he is there to help. We've had quite the email conversations going back and forth and he always responds. Very nice and helpful man.
So far, I am very satisfied with the purchase. I hope it continues to work as well as it did on night one.
By the way, how is it supposed to be cleaned, with toothpaste???

Thanks for the encouragement, Lorri! I'll try that "biting down" part tonight and see if that helps. I just knew that with it being a weekend, I wouldn't be able to get Dr. Sue on the phone today to get a remedy.
As far as cleanings, I looked and did not find any specifics. I brushed mine with Listerene, rinsed with warm water, then let it air dry before placing it in the red container that it was mailed to me in (washed , of course.) Please, let us know if you find out any other cleaning directions. THANKS

heretolearn,
You can email Dr. Sue at floss@aloha.net. He even answered one of mine this morning. Very responsive. But I think you may be surprised when you bite down hard, and feel the air escape, how it makes a tight seal, what he calls a lip seall. Maybe that's what you were missing.
Good idea regarding the Listerine. I was just concerned not to use anything that might damage the rubber. I thought toothpaste was a safe idea, but it doesn't kill germs like Listerine does.
Let me know how you make out tomorrow. Hope it's better than last night. But it really does work. I was surprised the great results I got on the very first night. I'm kind of psyched to try it again tonight.

Hello People
I am a nose breather since I had my tubinatae reduction operation on my nose 2yrs ago. I been using my nasal mask since I got my nose "fixed" up and was able toe breath properly for the frist time in my life.
I spend alot my years with a mussed up snoz and breathing was impossible and swimming was hard when trying swim without a breath across the pool! As the poor airways was the cause way I was never able breath properly until after I had a operation to fix my airways.
Now sleeping and breathing is more pleasent now I can breath properly for once.
