I've read several times on this board that the noise level of Respironics M Series machines varies from machine to machine. You may have a quieter one.
Makes me wonder, though.

Makes me wonder too . Why should some machines be quieter than others? Where's the Quality Control? We do use the Cap and it's somewhat quieter(I think?). It's an inexpensive gadget, $12. We also have it sitting on a hand towel . Thankfully, we've gotten used to the sound by now.
