Vents getting louder as night progresses

Post by kokefishman » Sat Jul 18, 2009 9:58 am

I am new to the forum and to cpap therapy. I am still at the stage where I am trying out different masks. It seems that all of them get much louder as the night progresses. This happens in both CPAP and APAP mode. I am sure they are not leaking. It is the vent noise that seemingly gets louder throughout the night. What gives?

It could be moisture from the humidifier making the holes nosier. You might try lowering your humidifier setting (assuming your using one).

Maybe that will help.

I am using the Nasal Aire II and the Swift LT. Both seem to get louder in the wee hours.

1. Search for 'whistle' 'whistling' 'high pitch' separately in this forum.

2. On Auto mode, pressure does increase at times.
3. Generally ambient noise (streets) gets lower later at night.

try earplugs which may help until you get used to the noise, although some CPAP noise can get to the ears from inside the skull

It might be they are blowing against the pillow, or covers.

Sure it's not leak? When I have knocked my mask around and started to leak, at first I think that it is just vent noise until I wake up enough to realize that I need to re-adjust my mask.
