My "brandy keg" is a 4" diameter cylinder of closed-cell foam which I bored a hole through, covered in fleece, and then ran a strap through the hole. It tucks up under my chin and holds my jaw up, but I can shift it readily to one side if I want some water.

One of these days I have to do a "History of the Brandy Keg as applied to CPAP Therapy."
And if you could, PLEASE post a picture some time? Being extraordinarily claustrophobic (from USMC Combat Experiences..), I would LOVE to see more clearly what it is you are describing. It sounds like an amazingly simple alternative? If you ever do take any pictures PLEASE email me some? Thanks,
Mike

I used one for about a month but it drove me crazy. AND I felt like I was wearing a jockstrap on my head. LOL. Anyway, I trained myself not to open my mouth when I sleep. The only time I ever fall back into old ways is if I sleep on my back for more than twenty minutes or so. Yuck, chin straps!
