i am trying to understand what software i need to use for my resmed elite ii to see the data and what kind of usb is needed (i do have a card if that is any help to know but no reader)

You can get software from the manufacturer. I bought the package that included the software which mean I can download the information onto my computer, if I have a PC – it does not work with an Apple.

This software isn't for sale in the US anymore... but it looks like this is the right version for your machine.
