It's the worst kind of one-upsmanship, but I want to claim seniority for a 110 baud Radio Shack accoustical modem (you jammed the telephone receiver into a pair of rubber cups) used to communicate with Compuserve around 1980.

Remember plain green text on a black screen? And nothing but a C:\> prompt to work with?
No color...no animation...no "streaming" anything! Ah, those were the days.....NOT!

Bad command or file name

Code: Select all

c>prompt $p $g
C:\>cd windows
C:\>WINDOWS>win.bat
Oh the days of DOS 3.0 to 6.22 and having to wait until Windows 95 before someone was smart enough to put commas in the file sizes.

OMG, I remember those, although I didn't own one. They used those in WarGames....along with the 8 1/2 inch floppies that held 360K single sided.

I think it was DOS 2.0, where you said "format c:" and it obligingly did. In green letters on a black screen...

All you IT oldtimers...remember the orange screen that made your eyes go color wonky -- lunch always looked so unappetizing after looking at the monitor for awhile

I work on green screen mainframes most everyday at work. I have the space quest, leisure suit Larry and kings quest collections on cd that runs in winxp.
