Hi, all,
This forum has been a big help to me. I've been on bipap therapy for about 3 weeks and generally things are going well. However, I find I still need long naps during the days when I'm not at work! I'm certainly less sleepy when I *am* at work, but on my days off I spend hours sleeping, waking every couple of hours to look at the clock and then rolling over and snoozing some more. With time, will this go away by itself? I feel like I'm not getting anything done on my days off, and still not feeling very rested.
Thanks for all your advice and suggestions.

Re: Still needing naps
It is normal to still be tired for a few months after starting CPAP. Remember, you have not been getting good sleep for years. A few weeks isn't going to pay back that sleep debt.
You should also check your numbers if you have a data capable machine. This will confirm if your apnea is now under control.

Re: Still needing naps
Have you checked into whether you might need a full face mask, whether you breathe through your mouth when asleep (someone would need to tell you), losing all the cpap air?
Re: Still needing naps
mouth breathing with a nose only mask is a common reason to get no benefits
if this isnt happening, be sure to use CPAP during daytime naps

australian, anxiety and insomnia, a CPAP user since 1995, self diagnosed after years of fatigue, 2 cheap CPAPs and respironics comfortgell nose only mask. not one of my many doctors ever asked me if I snored
Re: Still needing naps
sometimes I think that needing that nap on non-working days is part of a habit I got into. Now I try to find other things to do instead of taking the what was "normal" afternoon nap on my days off.
