Difference b'tween ResMed AutoSet 11 & AutoSet Vantage

Post by Muse-Inc » Tue Jul 07, 2009 6:23 pm

I know I sound like complete dolt (I sure feel like one) but I can't figure out what the difference is between these 2 APAPs on the ResMed site . Anyone know? The loaner I was using was the AutoSet Vantage. Thanks!

You are no dolt, Muse-Inc. It is a confusing thing.

I believe that the primary difference is that the Vantage has EPR in CPAP mode, but it does NOT have EPR in APAP mode. The Autoset II has EPR in both modes.

Hope that helps.

The AutoSet II, like all of the S8 II models has EasyBreathe, which supposedly makes breathing more natural. I can't vouch for it as it's the only machine I've used. It's also quieter that the S8 non-II models.

And as noted above, the S8 AutoSet II has EPR in both CPAP and APAP modes. I don't know how much this improves things over EasyBreathe, as I have not enabled EPR. I know that the overseas version of the AutoSet II (the S8 Autoset Spirit II) does not have EPR at all.

Thanks for the kind words

Far as I can tell, these are other differences:
AutoSet II...................Vantage
Easy Breathe
EPR..........................Ramp-only or full-time EPR (following an event reverts to CPAP)
24 dBA......................31 dBA (my Escape is 30 dBA so same as what I've got)

Looks like reporting is the same and we know that ResMed quit making ResScan available to consumers in US only pros . But unless Doc writes a scripts that says 'medically necessary' I'm not getting the software or card reader any time soon

Muse --

The ResScan 3.7 is available via cpapaustralia.com. Several board members report ordering and receiving it with no problems, and it's cheaper, too.

Order the card reader from cpap.com as it's cheaper there.

I didn't notice that you have the Escape. It only has compliance data.

My experience with the loaner Vantage was so wonderful reavealing ovenight pressure all over the place along with large leaks (suspected I was having leaks and events) that I think he'll upgrade hence my questions. Will be getting the Hybrid or Liberty mask as that air's going somewhere and it's exiting my ears

Thanks for the help Jeff.
