Dr ordered a VPAP
I just got a call from my insurance company telling me my doctor had ordered a BiPAP (VPAP) machine. She said the only difference in a CPAP and VPAP is that the VPAP measures different air settings ---one for inhale and a different pressure for exhale. She also told me that this particular device is a rental only and not for purchase. I am assuming it is because it must be more expensive than they want to pay for. WHATever. If I do well and decide I like it----at this point, I honestly don't care. Just as long as I can get it ASAP. I was caught in a mini-intervention by a co-worker and my supervisor last night. Apparently, this has been affecting me at work more than I had realized. My supervisor is SO nice and understanding. So, I am off for the rest of the week and if I can get my machine today or tomorrow, that will give me 4 or 5 nights on it to hopefully get some rest and be able to function better at work. Is that realistic??

VPAP is just ResMeds trademark. Its nothing more than a bi-level machine (a good one by the way).
Did your doc order a bi-level machine w/o a previous cpap trial?
Now if what you've got is a VPAP Assist, or a BiPap ST, its a good indicator that your doc saw a bunch of central events in your sleep study.
