I received my cpap last week and am having a problem with how strong my setting is. I have been set at a 16 and am using a swift LT mask. The mask is comfortable and I usually fall asleep with it, but I wake up with air blowing out my mouth and my nose hurting. I thought I had allergies during my sleep study, but found out a week later that I had a sinus infection. Could this have effected my sleep study or is my prescription correct and I just need to find a different mask? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Could a sinus infection have effected my sleep study?
Re: Could a sinus infection have effected my sleep study?
I suggest you call your doc and ask him/her that question re the effect of a sinus infection during a sleep study.
My first wk or so on CPAP my brain had to learn how to deal with the increased pressure, so in multiples instances the CPAP air would suddenly rush out of my mouth -- that hissing was soooo loud it immediately woke me up. Those releases quit shortly afterwards. Now if I hear anything like that hissing noise including someone running the water in the sink in the nearby bathroom , I wake up.
