how I got cozy with my machine....

Post by Guest » Sun Jun 28, 2009 7:33 pm

When I first got my cpap, I was very anxious....however...after two nights I was feeling much better. In dealing with my new "BFF", I have named him and talk about him on FB like he is my boyfriend LOL....I've even NAMED him (yes, I have no life!!)....LOL....I think it helps to just make light of the fact and know that I am much safer sleeping WITH it than I ever was without it!! At least I know I am not NOT breathing anymore!!!

Hopefully this will help the newbies.....

I wrote the following after 6wks on the hose.

So, as I was enjoying this new body that CPAP has brought to me,
I thought about the mask and the machine and how it is almost a living thing.
......so it needs a name.

Grace, as in amazing grace.

"Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That sav’d a wretch like me!
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believ’d!"

It is the sweet sound of the mask and machine that is
saving me, and it did appear about the fourth day
when I stopped fighting the mask and believ'd.

It may just be that because of your new friend, you really do, in fact, have a life.

...and yes, let's hope the newbies are listening.
"If your therapy is improving your health but you're not doing anything
to see or feel those changes, you'll never know what you're capable of."
I said that.

I named him Luke (as in "Luke I am your father").....because when it isn't on my face it sounds like Darth's breath LOL.......so I guess that's how "it" became a "he" LOL.....

You could have named it Dick. (As in Cheney.)
