2 months and counting.

Post by Bearcat42 » Wed Jun 24, 2009 3:15 pm

It has been about 2 1/2 months since I started CPAP and it has been a long, windy road. After some time I finally switched to a nasal mask and put up my FFM, which has turned out to be a really good decision. My AHI is now averaging 2.2 and my leaks are averaging 53.4. I still need to work on getiing my AHI down some more, somehow, but overall the numbers look okay.

Most days I feel pretty good. Everything seems brighter and the fog is not there but I still have some days where I feel groggy and tired. But at least the good are outweighing the bad and for that I am happy. I have only missed one night so far and I am using my machine religously, every night. I do still, on occasion, take my mask off but nothing like I did with my FFM. I love my nasal mask even though at first it was very uncomfortable and I feel that my setup is working well, for me.

For anyone who is just starting I would stress compliance. Stick with it and dont give up. Try different set-up's and equipment until you find what works and makes you feel the best.

Good for you, Bearcat42! Looks to me like your AHI is okay though--anything under 5 is supposed to be good. But, your leak rate looks a bit high to me. I'm sure some of our wiser members will chime in here. Good luck with your continued "CPAPing!"
