Both machines that I have had are "loaners" for the past 2 months to see how I made out with them. I do feel comfortable that I will be getting an S8 Elite ll. When I went for the Cpap clinic this afternoon it was just to go over how I was doing. They changed my ramp pressure to start at 6 instead of 4 but kept my pressure at 8. They told me my numbers were very good. I think if I can get past the mask on my face and can relax and get to sleep easier I will be better at this whole cpap stuff.

I've been on start pressure of 6cm for about a year now, I do find more comfortable when I start falling asleep then it increments to my titrated pressure. Remember to hit your ramp button if you start feeling uncomfortable, your CPAP machine will start again at 6 and increment up to your titrated pressure. I still have some claustrophobic feelings when I wear the mask. Make sure that your mask is not too tight, and fit your mask while lying down to adjust the straps. It takes a while, we are all different, we won't tolerate as well if we're sick or tired or irritable. I have nights that I'm ready to give up! You just have to find a mask that is comfortable and the right fit for your face. I'm due to replace my Quattro mask and hose and will be getting a Resmed Autoset II in the next couple of weeks. I'm anxious to try the EPR settings to help relieve my bloating/reflux issues due to the high titrated pressures. From your posts it seems you're getting relief using the EPR setting of 3 (maximum comfort). I find some nights with the Remstar Auto pressures are hard for me to tolerate!

Thanks for the support. I got my new machine today and also got another mask, the ComfortLite 2. I am anxious to try it out and see if it works better than the Swift LT. I like as little as possible on my face so will see how this works, I am sure it will take some tweaking to get the fit to feel comfortable. I think you will like the EPR. I have tried it from 0 to 3, and for now the 3 feels more normal to me. I have been only doing this for about 2 months so am no expert at all. I did ask my DME if I could buy the ResScan software and she said that I could. I will wait and see how much my insurance company reimburses me after the ADP amount before I order the software; the Ins. Co. won't pay for software but I would like to be able to see for myself what is happening with my therapy.

I'm also interested in the ResScan software to monitor my therapy, I will inquire with my DME when I get my new machine in a couple of weeks.
I guess you have nasal type masks that goes with your machine, I'm a mouth-breather and I need a full-face mask like the Quattro. There is the Resmed Liberty full-face mask that has nasal probes that fit in each your nostrils and a mouth piece. I tried it previously but I found that my nose would get congested quickly. However it felt less claustrophobic than the Quattro and more comfortable to wear. I think ADP will cover 75% of your CPAP machine and your insurance company might cover almost the remainder of the 25% of the cost. My mother recently bought a new CPAP machine, Great-West Life reimbursed almost the same % of the cost of the new machine. I think she said she paid $150-$200 for her new CPAP machine. We all know that DME's overly charge ADP, compared to a private online company that sell CPAP equipment like cpap.com

I got a call from my DME this morning, I will be getting my new Resmed S8 Autoset II machine delivered to me today or tomorrow! Yipee!
I'm anxious to try the EPR settings, for more comfortable breathing.

I got my machine today! What a difference from the Resmed Auto! It's like comparing a Chevy Sprint to a Cadillac!
Will receive my new Quattro mask, hose and extra filters tomorrow! I'm due for a change, I had the old mask for almost a year! Our town drinking water is very hard and stains my mask, I think they over-chlorine it!
Windmill, I checked my EPR setting it is set at 3, just have to figure out what the settling settings are and what that means?
I checked the max. is set to 45 minutes, this must be like the auto-ramp feature on the Resmstar Auto.
I turned the settling to OFF when the machine starts, I think the technician set it initially to 45 minutes.
I tried my old Quattro mask connected to the Autoset II for about 2-3 minutes, unbelievable! a lot easier to breathe!

I think the maximum ramp is 45 minutes, I have it set for 5. I could probably turn it off and not notice any difference. I see the "settling" on the machine...don't know what it means either

I think it's a certain amt of time for you to settle the mask on your face without the machine taking those 'settling' leaks into account for the night.

I thought "settling" on the Autoset was like "delay" on the Intellipap auto -- the amount of time the machine will record data but not change pressure. It's supposed to be set to the amount of time it takes to fall asleep. I guess the theory is that it's easier to fall asleep at the lower pressure and without the machine making pressure changes.

I slept generally well with my new machine, it takes a while to get used to the EPR but a lot easier on the lungs and did not experience any reflux or bloating!
What a relief!
I slept for 8.29 hrs and also checked my results after I woke up.
AHI - 2.2
AI: 0.0
Pressure: 9.4 (mostly sleep on my side)
Leak: 0.14l/day
HI: 2.2

To my surprise...the DME clinician disabled much of the detailed menu, I wish they would not do this!
I guess they don't want us to alter the settings, but it's our therapy!
I got the card reader but no ResScan software, I also found out that I might be approved for a DC power supply, in case I want to use my machine or when I go camping or a use it during a power outage.
Otherwise I'm very pleased with this model, a big improvement from the Remstar Autoset!
