DME, what to expect

Post by I'mSewTired » Fri Aug 19, 2005 11:25 pm

I am in the market for a GOOD DME company. I am dealing with two not to hot ones now. Company number one can not keep their book work right. The respotory tech broght me my swift, and told me she had NEVER seen a swift mask before! She has never provided more than one mask to try, and misfitted me for one mask. She had only brought one size, and I didn't know better. The breeze, my first mask, was sized at the sleep lab, and swifts have all sizes. Oh, she had put my breeze together wrong. And doesn't do follow up. Could go on, but now on to #2.

Decided to try out a new DME. Got a new rx as the first DME had not brought my hose. Went to the office. They don't have a HOSE!!!! NO HOSE, how in the world can they claim to be a DME without a hose? Went back a few days later, still no hose. She wanted to know if I wanted if I wanted a 7 foot hose. I have never heard of a 7 foot hose. Oh, she didn't know what an auto pap was, and had never heard of Swift.

There are a few more DMEs I can try. I hope I can find one I can deal with. I plan to ask the doc for two seperate scrips to try out different DMEs.

I had very good luck with Apria. Don't know if there is one by you or that your insurance company would authorize you to use, but they did right by me so far.
