I have seen some posts in forums where there was a grammatical 'shoot the messenger' attitude.
That is - ignore the content no matter how significant, shoot the messenger cos they can't spell.

But I do agree that bad grammer etc: does distract. But, a good mind will usually shine through

I voted yes - I must admit, I thought the question was in general, not specific to the forum.

In general, bad grammar (Call me crazy and slap me senseless if I'm wrong, but it's "AR", guys!) will always lessen the message impact for me, whether that's fair or not.

But if you're talking say texting, this forum, or to a lesser extent email, then that's different - different situation. More leeway. Again, whether that's fair or not!

Meant to say that if I'm about to open an onion, then even good people need to get rid of me no matter what.

Back to the kitchen to finish making the French onion soup and sweet onion rolls...

Thanks, grandmmar!

and

Mr. Aces, I'm not sure I get your point, but if it's that apartheid is bad, I don't think you'll find an argument here. Or were you just trying to trick someone into misspelling apartheid?

Well, recall that AR is the abbreviation for Arkansas...

I'm pretty sure grandmmar meant to highlight bad grammer usage in the hills of Arkansas.

Good on ya grandmar! They need to toe the writin' mark up in them thar hills just like the rest of us! Amen!

That looks really good, 5aces... about as inviting as that Easter ham that still pleasantly lingers in the mind's palate.

Keep it up and the entire message board is heading to your place for dinner!

Carbonman, To answer your poll question seriously, I voted no in this particular case because I remember that the subject of sleep apnea was a foreign language to me and it was hard to sensibly articulate my questions or answers. Still is. But I do think it is important to follow the rules of etiquette when posting on forums. Now back to the fun and games!

Sorry to disappoint you SWS, but as I'm from Aussie, I did not actually know that "AR" is the abbreviation for Arkansas (although I DO know how to pronounce it!!) And far be it from me to be picking on a particular group or locale!

I think we are here to help, not to judge. I am a stickler ( is that spelled right?) when it comes to grammar and spelling, but only for myself.
