Modifying mask/headgear?

Post by MissAmethyst2U » Fri Aug 19, 2005 4:12 pm

Ok, I have seen many posts on here about ppl making their own headgear or modifying masks and such...I am the one person who really LOVES the comfortcurve. For me, it works great. Only problem I have is it does seem to be cheaply made and seems to wear out quickly. like as far as the nasal cushion thing I use the medium but it seems to be stretched out or somethign and I am having a lot of leaks with it sometimes but yet the small one is too small for me. Anyway, I recently got the Swift cause I tried my dads and thought it would prob be the only other mask I could tolerate as I have had no luck with the others I have tried. My thing is I LOVE the headgear with the swift but I love the tubing with the comforcurve (and my sleep docs office gave me a connector since I have the 420S with the sensor line but my machine still reads properly and the pressure is fine...Well I got to thinking it would be GREAT if I could somehow have the swift headgear with the comfortcurve tubing cause I like how it has both small tubes that hang down in the front and then run into one big tube ya know unlike the swift that has one smaller tube only on the one side. Its make it lopsided for me since I am sooo used to having both smaller tubes hang down...SO..my theory is this...I unhooked the comfortcurve tubing by the elbows and took the little elbow pieces out of the tubing took the tube and the end cap off the nasal pillow on the swift and inserted the tubing from the comfortcurve into both sides of the swift if you push them in heard enough it would have to be pulled on kinda hard for them to come out and I dont really toss and turn too much at night so I am not worried about it comign out its in there pretty darn good I am actually very impressed and plus I just would love it if would be ok to uise like this cause I LOVE having the extra 6ft of tubing but does anyone think its safe as far as my pressure goes and as far as liek when I exhale out I dont wanna die from it lol....I took a picture of it but dont know if I can post a pic on here or not? I hope someone has a clue of what I am talking about as far as what I did...Let m me knwo what yall think. I tried it out and it seems to be great...

Edited to add pic...lets see if it works...
