FOR NEWBIES: MASK IS SO IMPORTANT!

Post by nobody » Sat Jun 06, 2009 6:59 am

I was using the Simplicity nasal mask consistently several weeks in a row. I was feeling so great during the days, rarely needing naps or feeling tired the entire day and sleeping great at night. Well eventually I developed acne where the mask sits. It became infected and sore so I had to switch to the Quattro mask until it resolves. After just a few nights on the Quattro I feel tired when I wake up and feel an underlying tiredness during the day. This is true even though my overall AHI is only slightly higher (1.9 compared to 1.4, really not a significant difference). The mask leak is fine...ceteris paribus....

I think the Quattro actually pushes on my sinuses and makes it more difficult for me to breathe through my nose and I just don't like breathing through my mouth. Or...I don't know, who knows? All I know is when I use the Simplicity mask I feel better during the days. So I'm just saying, the right mask is so important. Even if it seems like the mask you're using is fine...like your AHI is low, mask leak is fine, etc, but you still feel tired during the day, maybe trying another mask is all you need.

all new masks should be soaked in warm soapy water and washed and rinsed, try wearing your mask as high up on the face as possible
