whew, I forgot how many 420 lovers there are on this forum!!
The machines may be calibrated differently, but at the same pressure setting I found it a lot easier to exhale with the 420 than with the remstar. Even with cflex on--- which I never found particularly helpful.
One looks like a sports car, the other looks like a tank.
I set it on auto last night , pressure from 8-12, 12 is my titrated pressure, and never even reached 12. It did great... No runaway pressures like I had on auto with the remstar. I did have 1fl1 off. Of course I can't totally understand the software data, but I can tell color, and length of lines etc.
I think I'm gonna like it!
The buttons are still a better setup on the remstar. On off button takes you out of settings mode, instead of having to scroll through. I know it will change back by itself in 30 sec. IF I could wait that long......
I used it without the humidifier attached. Much better connection to the hose.
Both machines are about the same amount of noisy (when I shut my fans off to listen), the only difference I could tell is you don't hear the exhale on the remstar.
positive comments for the pb 420e!!!

I find the PB420E to be a bit noisy if the H2O humidifier is NOT attached. I noticed this with the 420E that I trialed and with the one (a different one) that I purchased.
Even if I don't want any humidity, I leave the humidifier attached, with no water in the tank, no heat on, so that it is quieter. Without the humidifier, there just seems to be a sound that I hear; I think it travels up the air hose from the machine.
I know this sounds pretty lame and, if I were an engineer, I'd have a better explanation -->what can I say? I still would not give up my 420E for love nor money!

Buy a new hat, drink a good wine, treat yourself, and someone you love, to a new bauble, live while you are alive... you never know when the mid-town bus is going to have your name written across its front bumper!
seagull, your post gave me a good belly laugh! I was one of those who posted in favor of the 420e and kinda sorta gave you a hard time for having preconceived notions on the 420e. My apologies! It sounds like you went into the night with an open mind and did a very good evaluation. Again, the 420e may not be the machine for you...only you can decide. But it sure sounds like you are doing well.
