AUGH! HELP! EncoreViewer is driving me nuts!

Post by LoneStar » Tue Jun 02, 2009 8:30 am

I am at my wit's end with this stupid glitchy program, not to mention the lovely Smart Card (an oxymoron) and its disappearing data trick. (I even tried the sacrificing a goat and leaving entrails on the keyboard maneuver that was mentioned in another EV thread. )

I need help if y'all can give it and point me in the right direction. BTW, I reformat the SmartCard on a weekly basis with MyCAP Card Utility.

Let me give a bit of background first. I started xPAP 3-16-09 and I was able to read my data fine for about a month. Then my old computer began to die and the EV program started acting up; I assumed it was the computer, not EV.

So I got a new computer with Vista 64-bit. Doh. EV is not compatible with 64-bit without a lot of geek tweaking that is beyond me. So I bought a used netbook with Windows XP, loaded EV on it, and everything was fine.

Then the SmartCard had a brain fart and lost data. I reformatted and tried again the next day. At this point, I began getting one of those lovely error messages. *sigh* I deleted EV and reloaded it. Same problem. ARGH!

Here is what the error says: Microsoft .NET framework - Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. The added or subtracted value results in an un-representable Date Time Parameter name: value.

Do I need to delete and reload the MS .NET programs?

Would using EncorePro be a better bet?

Do I need to sacrifice something larger?

I "love" my Respironics xPAP, but they really need to get a clue on the problems with their data viewing program. I paid good money for the software and reader and want to be able to read my nightly results without fail or problems!

Thanks,
Lisa

Try uninstalling EV and .Net. Make sure your PC is at XP SP 3. If not, go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com in IE and get service pack 3, then go to technet.microsoft.com and download the new .NET release, then reinstall EV. Also, don't remove your card from your machine until at least an hour and a half after you turn it off.

That is what I have done and I haven't lost a day yet.

Thanks Kevin; I'll give it all a try.

The day the SmartCard glitched so bad, it was in the machine until nearly noon. Go figure. I'm beginning to wonder it the dratted card itself is possessed by card gremlins.

It may be just a bad card. They sell new cards on cpap.com for $12-15 I think.

I thought of that, too, and ordered a new one this morning.
