The same thought passed through my mind but he would still have to know how to figure what L/s is acceptable. I can't find the link where I found the Respironics masks intentional leaks. I have been to too many threads and web sites. If no paperwork was supplied by DME that offers leak rates them PM me and I will figure out a way to send you a copy of what I have if you need it.

I have to do the math the old fashioned way with my machine but it involves only taking the rate and looking at the chart. Much easier than all this conversion and adding and subtracting stuff.

I will change it to Standard tonight and see if that changes the rate of leakage...
Just because of yawning, tossing and turning, I just do not think a 0 is ever gonna happen.
I can do Math if I have the right formula to start with. If not, I am screwed just like everyone else.

Here is a hint that someone gave me and I will pass it along. Get some Lansinoh or generic equivalent and apply some to your outer (and a little inner) nostril area where the pillows sit. It is what nursing moms put on nipples when they are breastfeeding to help with soreness. Now I wasn't haven't any sore nostrils but someone told me that it helped the pillows seal better. Sealing better got my attention.

I tried it initially when I was using the Optilife mask and medium size pillows which I found out were too large for me.
It did make a noticeable difference in my leak rates. I went from 31.2 L/min down to 15.8 L/min just by adding some of that goop to my outer/inner nostril area. Worth a try and sure won't hurt anything.

BTW in theory zero could happen. Last night my leak rate was 15.8 L/min and at 12 cm pressure (my 90%) my Swift LT for Her shows 33 L/min. Unfortunately in my case my AHI was 5.5 and I can't blame it on mask leaks. Darn.

I don't want to sound like I am bragging too much, but I am happy! The link below is my report for last night. The leak rate on my mask is 38L/m for 10cm and I am at 10.5cm. If you notice on the report, besides the couple of occassional spikes, my line was right on 39-40 and mostly straight. This is how you want your line to look, for the most part.

oops, I get a page not found on your link. It is me or the link?
I am so happy for you and green with envy. I just got the software installed and looked at my daily stats. The daily average is misleading. I seem to have times with very minimal leaks and times where leaks jump up. These seem to correspond with clusters of events. Overall average isn't so bad but these clusters seem to correspond with me waking frequently. No wonder I haven't seen the miracle improvement yet. LOL (just kidding I know that is rare) I think I will try a homemade chin strap tonight. I have a sneaking suspicion that my big mouth is getting me into trouble again.

works for me, try doing a refresh (F5 or Ctrl F5). My webserver has been a little screwy lately. Let me know if it still fails to work. If so, I will rehost it.

It was me. It worked this time.

OMG I am so green with envy. My leak line looks like a zipper in places. Congrats on the good report. Wouldn't you know it? I have no problem with mask or air blowing up my nose but I have this leak issue to sort through.

Thanks!

I was about to give up on this mask considering my ResMed Liberty just came in today. The FlexiFit is making me have horrible acne. Now I have to decide.....now that I got the FlexiFit with a great leak line, do I continue using it and look like a pizza faced 15 yo or do I go with the Liberty that I just got, since it's much smaller and made of a different material and give it a go to see how it does? LOL

See Drubin....it's just alot of trial an error....I used this mask for a week....last night was the first night where I got a leak line that looked like that. I basically unstrapped the whole thing and refitted myself while laying down and it did the trick. If your mask is giving you fits, and you like it, you can search the forum for fixes or just try a different mask. There are mask tesk drives sometimes where you can try a mask out for a week to see if you like it and see how well it does, keep an eye out for one or search the forum for one if interested. Just don't give up. You are doing a great job so far being this proactive in your treatment.

You gotta try it. Might be as good of a leak rate or even better. We never know till we try what will happen.

Sounds like a plan...I will give it a go. Going to update my equipment now.

When I was fitting it, it felt kinda weird to go from a FFM to a Nasal Pillow type mask. lol

Just a little addition, I was reading the User Guide to the Liberty and I found some more numbers for you to wrap your head around. This mask has an intentional leak rate of 36L/m at 10cm and (according to the guide) a leak of 50L/m impacts therapy 0.5cm. So, for example, I am wearing this mask and I have a leak rate of 86L/m, then you can figure that I am losing 0.5cm of therapy to the leak. Check your user guide to see if it has something like that in it. If not or you don't have a guide, let us know and we can help you find that information.
