How Many Nights a Respironics SmartCard Hold?

Post by Eureka » Thu May 28, 2009 7:41 am

The Respironics Viewer states "Available usage data ranges from 4/1/09 to 5/25/09." I haven't been able to access data for 4/26 or 4/27 even though I downloaded it. How much data does a SmartCard hold And... what do I need to do now

The card, itself, holds about 7 days worth of detailed data and 90 days (correct me if I am wrong) of compliance data. When you run a report, and set the span longer than 7 days, it will give you only the last 7 days in the span, of detailed data. If you are missing two days, it may be because of the Respironics Card Glitch.....I personally haven't had it, but other say that it causes you to lose a night or two of data. Their suggestion is to download the card maintenance tool at mycpap.org (or use EncorePro) and erase the card every so often. Again, I haven't encountered it yet, but I have both Pro and the tool in case that I do.

Try running the report just for those two days, if nothing comes up, then sorry, you probably already lost it.

Hope this helps.

Kevin

I think the card actually holds several months' worth of data. However, Encore Viewer will only display 7 days of detailed data. However, you should be able to click on the same date for both the start and end dates. I have been able to access detailed data from specific dates from a couple of months ago by doing this.

I might have had them backwards (the card holding the data and not the software). I just know you can run detailed data reports from months past and assumed it was the software that held it since I figured the data card couldn't hold much. I also read somewhere that the card held 90 days of compliance data, but I have no idea where I read that at, so it might be bunk.

For missing a couple of days, I am almost sure it was the Respironics Glitch. Do a search of the forums for it and you can find out alot about it as it has been highly discussed.

Just read that post your linked, Den. Is it the card or the software that holds the 300+ days of data? Is that just compliance data or is that all detailed data? I was under the impression that the SIM Card type of card didn't hold that much data.

Here is a picture of the actual chip that resides behind the gold contacts of the data card. It is sitting on a Canadian penny to illustrate scale. At the corner, is the detailed specs of the chip.

It's the card that will hold 300+ days/nights of data (compliance) and of course the 7 days/nights of detailed data.
The SQL database used by the Encore Pro (on the computer) is limited to 2 GB of data, which I believe is limited by the software license. I managed to get about 2 1/2 years (maybe a little more) of daily downloads into my database before it ran out of room and I started deleting the oldest downloads (but I copied my original database folder to another location on my hard drive before doing that.....in case I ever wanted to go back to it, for some reason). If a person only does weekly downloads, the EP database would hold data over a longer period of time (I'm testing that on another computer).

Howkim -- I appreciate your reply. You mentioned that you clicked on the current date and got your info. My problem is that Viewer is set for April 1 (first date) and the last date is May 25. It won't let me click on the 26th or 27th. I had the card in the machine both nights, but I can't access the info. And I don't know how to change that Apr 1 and May 25 date. That seems to be the parameters that it won't go past. I'm wondering if I will have to format my card or something to let it see the current info. Viewer has worked without a problem until now-- and I started using it on April 10. Probably a simple answer -- but I don't know what it is.

Hummmm ....

On the front page, it won't let you click on the 25th for either the start or end dates for the report?

Hummmm ....

One night I forgot to put the card back in the machine after downloading the data. It obviously didn't read that night. However, neither did it read the next night, with the card in the machine. Those are the only two nights for which I have no data. The only suggestion that comes to mind is to check that the card is in the right way (colored side toward the closer side of the machine) and that it is firmly seated.

Hummmm ....

I'll keep working on it.

How have you been doing with your machine this weekend?

Sorry, but I haven't been able to come up with anything else.

You asked "How are you doing with your machine." The answer is -- Super -- if you take the way I have been feeling the last three days. But I have no info from my SmartCard. It's like going back to the days before I had software Just flying blind -- but my therapy must be doing well. I am going to ask my DME to download compliance info tomorrow and then ask him what is going on. He doesn't know I have software, so that will be an interesting conversation. If all else fails, I have a replacement card coming from Cpap.com.
Thanks for asking. I'll try to let you know when I have some answers to the Card Caper.

fwiw - the card will hold 7 sessions of detailed data. It could be 7 days or less.

fwiw2 - most DME's will erase data from the card by default. That WILL resolve your missing data problem for the next 7 sessions. Point is, if you say nothing to the DME, s/he will neva know.

Search for "Missing Data" to read more.

Thanks GumbyCT -- Good advice. I will just go in as usual and get my printout regarding compliance. Hope that works and gets my card back in service.

That is correct. The hard stores two types of data: detailed and summery.

The detailed data holds 7 sessions of detailed data which is at most 7 nights but can be less if you have more than one session per night.

The summery data is 6 months if I remember correctly.

Gumby thinks it will. Have you been taking naps? Or sleeping longer than 9hrs? 2 cards it definitely the way to go but til then just take the card out for naps. Total hours if use your DME is concerned about remains in machine.
