KenEsq,
Thanks for the tip on buying ReScan. I very much appreciate it.
I do not have a Autoset. I have S8 Elite II, which is data capable. I can read LEAK, AHI, AI, and HI off the machine. Does ReScan provide more information? My problem is that my AHI is still high after two weeks of CPAP use. I am desperate because my life is going down the drain. I have days that are better. (AHI close to 5). Days that are bad (AHI close to 15). I am trying to statistically see what actions during the day makes AHI worse. That is why I am looking to gather as much information as possible.

I started my theraphy with the S8 Elite II CPAP but could not control by numbers. I too was getting swings from low to high numbers so I began my investigation and ultimately determined that for me, an APAP (S8 AutoSet II) might provide better theraphy for me because the APAP would adjust itself to fit daily changes that impacted by sleep and therapy. I discussed the change with my sleep doctor and he readily agreed to switch me to an APAP. When I made the switch, my numbers dropped and stabilized - something I was not able to accomplish with my CPAP no matter how I tried. You just cannot wake up to adjust the CPAP pressure when higher or lower pressure is required. Many things contribute to changes in your numbers. If you move about in your sleep and end up sleeping on your back, that is one thing that can dramatically increase your numbers. Some people wear a backpack or sew a tennis ball into sleepwear to keep from sleeping on their backs - I tired that and it did not work for me - I just awakened and that was worse for me. I was never a back-sleeper but I must have been doing things in my sleep while using my CPAP that the CPAP could not adjust for but are no problem for the APAP. Just my thoughts based on my personal experience.
APAPs are not for everybody but if you can, it is worth trying one to see if the change works for you.

It basically took months of slow adjustments.atab wrote:Paul,
How long did it take you to get AI that low? Mine is around 4 (lowest 2.. AHI is usually around 8 (5 -15). And I don't feel good. This why I am trying every possible avenue.

I started out with the machine on Auto but made the biggest gains when switching over to CPAP mode. I'm not saying Auto is bad but rather that I did much better in CPAP mode once I had established what my ideal pressure is.
My goal was to get the therapy to the point where it was similar to brushing my teeth or washing my face... just something else I do as a matter of course during the day. At this point I wear the mask, check the numbers in the morning and keep the equipment clean... and thats it. As long as the numbers are good and I feel good... that is all that matters. I'm not interested in analyzing the numbers to death with Rescan; however, having said that if something does go wrong with my therapy I will definitely break out Rescan again to see what is happening during the night.

So may be I should not get disappointed for lack of results in 2 weeks. RT got my two week data yesterday. I am hoping Doctor will make some kind of adjustment.

If you feel better than before CPAP then you have an important result. It will take some time and perhaps some changes to get better numbers.atab wrote:So may be I should not get disappointed for lack of results in 2 weeks. RT got my two week data yesterday.
