A little over a year ago I was doing fine sleeping 8 to 9 hrs a night. Then my doc changed me from lipitor
to simvistatin and I felt compelled to sleep 14 to 16 hrs a day! I changed back to lipitor and this got a lot
better but I still sleep a lot 10 to 12 hrs a day. Dang I get up at 7am after 8 hours of sleep and feel I need
a little 2 to 3 hr nap around noon. I tried Provigil but it made me irritable and I have to buy it out of pocket
at $380 a month! Now if I am forced to stay up and not take my afternoon nap I don't feel any more tired
at 11pm than I would if I had had the 2 or 3 hr nap. I did borrow an auto cpap and the data looks good, I
don't think I need a pressure adjustment. Any ideas?
Sleeping all the time
Re: Sleeping all the time
Yes - can you be more clear about whether you are on some kind of Cpap, routinely or otherwise, and if so, fill in the Profile on your member page so any time you post, it will all appear automatically under the posting and everyone can see what you're working with (look at some others to see what's listed). Welcome to the forum!
Re: Sleeping all the time
Yes I have been on cpap about 2 1/2 years 99.85% compliance ( the first week I had 2 naps without it )
I use a remstar m serese set to 14" pressure using a Res Med Ultra Mirage full face mask with 3L O2.
I borrowed an Auto cpap set at 12 to 15" and used it 4 hours and the data didn't show any apnias so I don't
think I need retitrating besides I am on social security and my copay will be several hundred $.
I also have type 2 diabetes which it's fairly well controlled but again this compulsion to sleep is a lot worse after
a meal. Well I feel like I am grasping at straws but any ideas?

Re: Sleeping all the time
Post all the numbers you pulled from the APAP. You might be missing something like high leaks.
Have you had your thyroid, iron and vitamin D levels tested? Those would be my next suspects if the APAP numbers really are ok.

Hi again, yes I do think you need to get things like your thyroid checked, but maybe also your sugar. The fact you're dopey after eating has to mean something metabolic is going on and you should look into it. Is your machine an M Series "Pro" or "Plus" or ??
