OT: To all VETs !

Post by N6CRV » Sun May 24, 2009 11:14 am

Just wanted to say a big THANK-YOU to all the Vets out there. It is because of what you gave to this country that we are able to be here to complain at times. I know there are some Vets from other country's that read this so although I won't say Thank You I will say you did what your Country asked from you. So this Memorial Day take just a moment to think about all those that are not to be a hose head. To ALL have a great Holiday!

Veterans worldwide should take a moment to remember those who did what their country asked of them including dying for their cause. As I've grown older, I often think of the good men who happened to be born in another country who did their job just as I did. In another place and time, we might have even been friends. Of course these are just the ramblings of a man old and tired before his time.

As a veteran, I appreciate your kind words, but let us not forget this isn't "Veteran's Day" (to honor ALL vets), but a day to remember those who gave the "last full measure" for their country.

The ones we honor today are, sadly, the very ones who WON'T read or hear our thanks. It's the day I drag out the tour books and look at the fine young men we were, email a few who have become fine, old men...and shed a few tears over the HEROES I served with who didn't get that chance. Including one who gave his life saving mine (and seven others). God bless you, SP4 Mark Hoeffer.

In deepest respect and honor to the memory of those veterans I knew and loved and to those loved by someone else. To the veterans among us, in my eyes every day is your day, and this time is always a reminder for me to take this opportunity to say thank you again while the words can be heard.

My thanks and gratitude to all the Men and Women who have served and sacrificed in times of War and Peace and a special prayer for the families that have payed the ultimate price and lost loved ones while they fought for our freedom.

Being that it is Memorial day..wanted to bump this thread to the top once again.
And also a big THANK YOU and God Bless to all the family members to those who have served as well.

Since this is an OT post..I wanted to add a shame shame to NC school districts for having
classes today on this day to Memorialize our lost soldiers and veterans.
I was one who did NOT have my child attend school (was a snow make up day), but felt
strongly it was inappropriate. If the school board wanted to teach our children something, allow
them to participate in a patriotric manner, honoring those we have loved and lost fighting for this
country's freedom.
