I took Two Tablespoons of the Honey and within the Hour all My Chest tightness was gone and My Nose was clear as could Possible be( Even the Deviated Septum side ) Also, All the symptoms of the Acid Reflux were almost Nil. My Blood Sugar will probably be higher that Normal as I am Type II Diabetic but it is worth the Risk for me to be rid of all the other ailments I have. I just thought I would Pass along this Info to anyone who might be Interested---It is definetly worth a try and really In Expensive compared to worthless Dr Visits.

Well, funny you should mention this.... my doctor has recently prescribed for me 2 tbs of raw, locally produced honey and 2 tsps of cinnamon. I found it hard to incorporate the cinnamon into my daily routine, but now I found ground cinnamon in capsule form at Sam's Wholesale Club. The label says it helps metabolize sugar better and more evenly. I knew the honey was to fight local type seasonal allergies.

If you use cinnamon for insulin resistance (ie. to improve sugar/carb sensitivity), you need to make sure it is from the correct speices of Cinnamon. Cinnamomum cassia is legally sold in US as cinnamon but not very useful for folks with sugar issues. However, true cinnamon is Cinnamomum zeylanicum, or Cinnamomum verum and they are the ones to use to treat insulin resistance.

I heard that the common cinnamon we use in cooking was not the correct form for health benefits. I found the study below to be interesting.

Antidiabetic effect of Cinnamomum cassia and Cinnamomum zeylanicum in vivo and in vitro.Verspohl EJ, Bauer K, Neddermann E.

Rats were given Cinnamomum cassia bark or extracts from Cinnamomum cassia and zeylanicum to evaluate blood glucose and plasma insulin levels in rats under various conditions. The cassia extract was superior to the zeylanicum extract. The cassia extract was slightly more efficacious than the equivalent amount of Cassia bark. A decrease in blood glucose levels was observed in a glucose tolerance test (GTT), whereas it was not obvious in rats that were not challenged by a glucose load. The elevation in plasma insulin was direct since a stimulatory in vitro effect of insulin release from INS-1 cells (an insulin secreting cell line) was observed. Thus the cassia extract has a direct antidiabetic potency. Copyright 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Thanks that's useful. It explaines the results I got. I tried Rexall Cinn-Max 500 mg caps, it is Cinnamomum Cassa (Bark), I could tell no difference whatever from using it, so I quit. Maybe it's time to find the other kind, that might help. Jim

Also I take the A1C test, but I never have had a test for insulin blood level. I think that number would be useful as the blood level really shows how much you need to over come your problem, the higher it is the worse your problem. If your body had a low insulin level, it would be a sign that diabetes is easier to control, in your body. I'm concerned because I shoot up 200 units a day, and barely keep on the high end of A1C.
