Resmed S8 II autoset efficiency numbers

I've been trying to find this answer, but it's not clear.

I've only been using an autoset for a couple days. doing this on my own after having some challenges with Dr and Apria. I purchased the S8 this week for a killer price and returned my "rental" unit (Tango hair dryer) after 5 months. In doing this, I'm trying to get my arms around everything and am taking a careful approach to this whole process. I'm not trying to self-prescribe or anything but only steer this back the right direction.

Anywy, I've recorded the efficiency numbers the past couple nights. Do these numbers reset with each session or do they average? I'm hoping they reset. At some point I'll buy the full software and reader, but I just can't swing the additional $300 right now.

The numbers roll over at noon each day. The daily numbers you see on the next day will just be the numbers for that night. If you go further down the LCD display tree, you will also have the option to display weekly and monthly numbers. Those numbers are averages.

The EFFICACY numbers (indices) for week, month, etc. are in fact MEDIAN values for the period.

Is the pressure also a median instead of an average?

The pressure displayed on the screen for the most recent night is the 95th centile pressure. That is the pressure AT or UNDER WHICH you spent 95% of the night. (Alternatively, if the pressures measured each minute were put into ascending order, and the top 5% of numbers were removed, the hightest number left would be the 95th centile pressure. Alternatively, this is the highest pressure which the machine sensed was necessary for you for 95% of the night. Alternatively, if you were to use constant pressure CPAP rather than AutoPAP, this would approximate the recommended pressure to prevent MOST apneas without unduly increasing pressure to chase every last apnea.)

The screen numbers for week and month ... are the median of each night's 95th centile pressures.

Statistics provided by the ResScan software include 95th centile, median and maximum pressures for each night, as well a the median values of these parameters for the range of nights selected.

ResMed manuals state that "All statistics calculated for a range of dates are median values. .... The median is a more robust measure than an average (or arithmetic mean) for a data set that has some extreme values."
