Pulse oximeter: SPO 7500 or CMS 50E?

Post by Sleep_question » Thu May 21, 2009 10:11 am

I'm thinking of buying a pulse oximeter. All things being equal, is the SPO 7500 three times better than the CMS 50E or D? (It's 3 times the price). Thanks.

If you get the CMS 50D, be sure it is the Plus model - the Plus can record overnight. I just got one, and it works OK for me - but it is very bare bones.

I have both. I don't think the SPO7500 is 3 times better ... though I do think it is a just a little better since it allows you to change batteries. When the rechargeable lithium batteries on the CMS 50E go out I don't think there is a way to replace them.

I opened mine and I don't think you need to be a genius to do it... It is a 3.7 lithium standard battery. You have to solder 2 wires if you want to do a perfect job or twist and tape them otherwise... The most difficult part of the work is to open (delicately) the case.

Can you post pics of how you managed to open (delicately) the case? I am not a genius but some folks on this forum may feel I'm mentally challanged.

Regarding batteries - one thing I like about the CMS 50D plus is that it uses regular AAA alkaline batteries.

I also tested it with rechargeable NiMH batteries - worked fine.

Thanks, these answers were helpful.

I suffer from "gadget addiction" -- I crave electronic devices like this and often tend to over-buy.

How long did your pulse ox lithium battery last and how often were you using the pulse ox

My oxymeter stopped working properly and I opened it just before sending it back to the seller to get a replacement. I don't know how long the battery would last. But I think that those batterys are good for 10,000 recharges. I opened it with an Exacto type of knife. You have to be careful.
