Hello,
Just found out an hour ago I have severe sleep apnea. I was told that severe apnea is classified as greater than 40 events per hour. I've been diagnosed with 136 per hour. Needless to say, ceasing to breath twice per minute on average has me a little frightened to sleep. They will be quickly calibrating the machine and getting it to me so that I can begin using it, hopefully within the next week. As I said, this is all pretty scary.

Howdy and welcome to cpaptalk,
I'm sorry that you have this condition and I know you are in need of some good news today. I have some for you, you have come to the right place for CPAP help and support.
If you have that serious a case and don't want to wait a week for equipment you may consider buying online.
If you would like more information on CPAP and OSA generally, here is a place you can get started:
cpap.com FAQ "CPAP and Sleep Apnea Basics"
https://www.cpap.com/cpap-faq/CPAP-and- ... tml#FGID-1
Another good thing to do is just start reading posts on this board to get a feel for what those with OSA deal with, wonder about, use for equipment, etc.
I'm sure others will follow this up with other good advice as well. Again, welcome!
Johnny

Welcome
Snowloft,
Welcome to cpaptalk. You have come to a great home. Lot of very knowledgeable & friendly folk here and you may never feel quite so welcome at any other web forum
Don't hesitate to ask any type of question. If you are familiar with site searching you may want to search on particular topics to find what has been discussed before on that topic.
The process of coming to grips with OSA and the treatment is a learning experience but here it is made so much easier because you have access to a common pool of experience and knowledge.
Cheers

Test Results
The only test results I've received back are the following:
713 Apnea events, averaging 136 per hour. Oxygenation never went below 90%, which they say is good. Considering severe apnea is 40 per hour or more, does 136 per hour make me some sort of King?
