finding the right mask
finding the right mask
My husband has been on the machine about 2 months now but still doesn't feel comfortable with the mask. He's using a Quatro FF mask, he's tried the same mask in a larger size, and a Respironics Comfort Full 2. he's still having problems with the masks leaking. Any suggestions? He also uses a chin strap. Thanks, were going to the DME tomorrow.
Re: finding the right mask
I have only been on cpap for a little over a week now. I use the nose pillows and it works great.
Re: finding the right mask
Hi,
Why would someone use a chin strap with a full face mask? Am I missing something here? I went through a number of full face masks, and had problems with every one. Between a non-symmetrical face, thin nose, and high pressure, I could never get the leaks around my eyes to stop. I went to the Swift LT, and things have been much improved. Despite being a mouth-breather, I have been able to teach myself to keep my mouth closed with the aid of a chin strap.

First I would encourage your husband to NOT give up on the therapy, his organs need a good supply of oxygen while he sleeps and CPAP provides that supply.
While we hosers are on a quest to find the perfect interface (mask / pillows system) I don't believe any of us has succeeded. But that doesn't stop us from continuing the search. We share our successes and failures, and keep looking.
Hose management can impact how an interface works. Some people report that running the hose up under the covers works best for them. However, most of us seem to go with the down from the headboard approach. Another hose related consideration is the hose itself. I prefer the cuffless (cheap / single-use) hose because it doesn't have the heavy cuff to deal with.

Does he have oily skin?
Does he wash the mask cushion every day?
How is he routing the hose to his mask?
What part of the mask is leaking?
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.
