The dreaded 8004020F error on smartcard

Post by socks349 » Sun May 17, 2009 7:34 pm

There have been a number of posts before on this, but it's new to me. I seemed to have some difficulty downloading data for last week and now I'm seeing the 8004020F error - and the machine is beeping when the smartcard is inserted. I didn't write anything to the card. Is there any fix besides a format of the smartcard - really don't want to erase the data...

Just doesn't seem right that the card should be corrupted so easily - it is supposed to be a smart card after all.

How much is it supposed to raise the cards IQ, if the maker writes SMART on the card? None, if it was smart it would fit in a USB 2.0 port. Jim

Unplug the machine insert the card plug the machine in again, if that doesn't fix it, format the card.

Did a format on the card. Only took a second and all's well again - just seems so temperamental. Just wouldn't happen with a a standard compact flash.
