Delayed REM and Prescription Meds

Post by lanndi » Sun May 17, 2009 8:12 am

My first study showed that I didn't enter REM until 5.5 hours into the sleep. According to the sleep tech for my titration study said I still had delayed REM, but had much more of it.

So as I learn more about SA, I've discovered that anti-depressants and anti-histimines affect sleep and especially REM. I'm on several of each.

I've asked my pharmacist to do research on my meds regarding sleep disturbances so that I have more info.

So acting under the assumption that much of my depression has really been OSA, I hope to decrease, and maybe eliminate, many of my meds. (I will do this w/ my doc's input.) I think this will be a good argument for getting an Rx for a data=capable cpap.

I would like input and advice from any others who have decreased/eliminated anti depressants and/or antihistimines after getting on cpap.
Starting APAP use 6/11/09 -- Looking forward to a longer, more rested life!
