Jay, I don't think it was your 'fault'.

I've encountered a couple small earthquakes. And a tornado hit my Texas elementary school. I've encountered blizzards.

But Hurricane Katrina (since we're going somewhat off the topic of Jay's first earthquake, which I am very glad wasn't any more serious!) was my worst experience.

http://community.compuserve.com/n/pfx/f ... tid=105542 is the account of our Escape From Katrina. Note: I write a lot. I unfortunately never had time to post about our return to the city after the storm.

http://community.compuserve.com/n/pfx/f ... g=105504.1 both precedes it and follows it... it's real time "this is what's happening" with Katrina in a community I'd been part of for almost twenty years at the time of the storm. Warning, this thread is long (239 messages.)

When we were renting a house in Tacoma, WA, I was always having to straighten the pictures on the wall; I figured it was small earthquakes.
Turns out that our house was built over the main railway tunnel!

We just had an earthquake in SoCal. It was centered in downtown Los Angeles. 5.0 magnitude. Probably a foreshock to "the big one"!!!! No big deal! Just another beautiful day in SoCal.

Governor Schwarzenegger was giving a speech. The quake shook so badly you could understand what he was saying.

Q: What is 3 feet tall and has a thousand arms and legs?

A: The Los Angeles Hyatt Regency Century Plaza
