Hello All....
I couldnt afford a sleep study, so my doctor sent me home with a remstar auto adjusting machine as indicated in my profile equipment, as a poor mans home sleep study. I had a very hard time adjusting, after about two months of effort and reading posts here, for the past few weeks I have been having good results, feeling much better during the days, more awake and alert.
Because I was having trouble adapting, the doctor told me to schedule an appointment when I felt I was getting results, so that they could read the card and determine how I was doing and get a pressure. This past Monday, I went to the doctors office and they told me that the machine was holding me at a pressure of 9, and he put together a prescription for a standard cpap machine, the Remstar Plus M series with C-flex, which according to the medical equipment company and the doctor, is the same machine without the auto adjusting feature. They actually just snapped out the main part of the Machine, left the humidifier in place, and snapped back in the new machine. They sold me the machine and mask (which i kept and I like) for $350 used, set it for a pressure of 9, and sent me home. I have used this machine for three nights and every morning I feel just like I did before I started the cpap therapy, and im tired all day and lack focus. It really sucks.
The doctor and the medical equipment company both said i did NOT need the auto adjusting machine, which they quoted me at $1100....
WHat has happened?? Why do i not feel as good with the standard cpap as I did on the auto machine. I feel exactly as if i was not on the machine at all... do any of you have experience with this?? I was so happy to finally be feeling better, and now im back to the struggle again and i need to figure this out...
thank you in advance.....I wanted to talk to you guys before I call the doctor...
Switching from an Auto to Standard machine
Re: Switching from an Auto to Standard machine
Hi, you know that you can run an auto machine on straight cpap anytime you want to, but not the other way around? If you have an auto machine, do whatever you can to keep it because you may want to switch back in future.
Re: Switching from an Auto to Standard machine
Sorry........You've been screwed without pleasure. After spending months reading what others have said on this forum, you still let then talk you into a "pootie grade" machine. Take it back...get a refund and buy a good machine from CPAP.com.
