I just noticed a new model overnight oximeter (CMS 50d plus) selling for less than US $100, and I ordered it. It seems spec'd about like the CMS50e, except that it uses 2 AAA batteries instead of a rechargeable lithium.
Has anyone else noticed/bought this?

Re: Newish pulse oximeter CMS 50d plus
I just bought the CMS50E yesterday! hehehe.... figures.
Good catch. This one (the CMCS50D plus) is $40 cheaper then the E model. Let us know how you like it when it arrives.

Re: Newish pulse oximeter CMS 50d plus
Hmmm, that's making things harder for me....
I was looking at the CMS-50e, but then thought that the CMS-50f might work better (since I'm curious to see what a work day looks like....wondering if there's a reason why I still struggle to stay awake at work.....maybe the inergen system has a slow leak or other effect) So, I've been rationalizing the price jump.... But, the jump from a CMS-50d plus...hmmmm. Especially since it uses regular batteries....

Re: Newish pulse oximeter CMS 50d plus
I received this oximeter in the mail today, and thought I'd provide a few thoughts.
There was no printed user manual, but they supplied a link for the manual. Here is a link to the user's manual:
http://www.semedicalsupply.com/CMS50-Dplus%20Manual.pdf
I am very happy with the company where I purchased it. They also have a link to the latest software. They say it is Vista compatible. The software at the below link is the same version as supplied via the mini cd.
http://www.semedicalsupply.com/CMSSPO2S ... nv0982.exe
The unit has a very simple interface. The software reports are the same as the other CMS oximeters in the series, well reviewed elsewhere in this forum.
There are no alarms on the unit. There is no way to review the recorded data on the unit - you have to upload the data to your computer via the software and the USB cable. This is not a regular USB cable - it has some kind of converter built into the cable - I think it mentioned a USB to UART converter.
There is not a clock, or time to start recording, to set. It just reports start time as 0:00.
I for one like the fact that it uses 2 regular alkaline AAA batteries. Some others use rechargeable lithiums, which might pay for themselves with frequent use, but I worry about replacing a lithium. I tested the unit with some good NimH batteries, and they work OK.
I tested it, it works so far.
So it is a very basic recording pulse oximeter, nothing fancy at all. I'm pleased.

the 50E uses a standard cable - seems better at $139
Re: Newish pulse oximeter CMS 50d plus
Elader,
I had read in this topic that that Uncle_Bob reported that the 50e needed a custom cable as well. The cable looks normal, normal USB connectors, that is, but the computer end of the cable has a housing that looks big enough to hold some circuits.
Sorry I don't know how to do one of those quick links to another topic.

Of course the 50e does have more features for only a bit more money.

Re: Newish pulse oximeter CMS 50d plus
USB to UART is accomplished just by putting 24ohm resisters in the USB connection. The CMS50E also shows up as a USB-to-UART device.
