UM FF mask

Post by Julie » Wed May 13, 2009 9:32 am

Hi, just wondering if people who use the mask can tell me what other mask is closest in fit and effectiveness, as I am considering changing to another but don't have access to DME and can't afford $50. each to test out a lot of others. Would set up a poll here, but it seems a bit much and don't know how anyway . Thank you!

I would guess that the Quattro is the closest. I have both a Quattro and an Ultra Mirage, and they are almost identical. The fit of the Quattro is a little different.

i have the Quattro and F&P Forma. I had to adjust the Quattro tight and felt an edge pressing on me. The Forma feels "wider" (no edge) because of the form backing to the seal - very comfortable. I don't have it nearly as tight as the Quattro but it seals better for me.

It's going to be okay in the end; if it's not okay, it's not the end.

I used the ulta mirage for a few years with mixed results. My pressure is 16 and in order to get no leaks I really had to have the mask on very tight. I now use the HC432 from Fisher & Paykel. It has a foam insert inside the silicone mask that feels much better when the straps are tight.

There is a DME near me called CPAP Express. They have most of the masks on display. I go there and spend a while trying on the masks and when I find one I like I have them give me a price on it. I usally end up ordering it from CPAP dot com.
