OT: Quality Kat Time

Post by elg5cats » Sun May 10, 2009 10:31 am

Since it's Mother's Day for Katmoms too, I'm spending quality time with my 2 Himmies Sami and Blue Angel. Shared quality time with 17 year old cats, means sleep time!!! They are tucked in their sleeping spots taking up the bulk of the king size bed.........snoring loudly in sync!!!! I think I understand why they didn't abandon sleeping with me before APAP..........they may have out snored me!!!

Try and get past the play on words in the video and tell me what kind of cat is she washing?
He seems like a great cat!

I don't know what breed of cat that was, but it's a pretty cat. And one of the very few I have seen who would patiently tolerate a bath!

My 3 'little lions' have never stopped sleeping with me since I began CPAP a little over 2 weeks ago. One of them doesn't like the idea of the mask because it prevents him from trying to stick his paw in my mouth (yuck!). So, he has come up with other ways to irritate me, including trying to figure out how to get that thing off my face.

The second cat still comes by for attention, and the third cat is really not that much affectionate, anyway. But at night, we all snuggle together, along with two huge plush lions!

Lions hate water as well. I watched one of the lionesses I help care for try to get a duck in the middle of a small pond once (I have pictures of this-- should post them.) The duck was quacking, egging her on to 'try and have me for lunch'. The lioness would circle the pond, periodically dipping her foot in the water. She would pull it back hastily, realizing that everywhere on the the periphery of that pond, the water was WET! After 20 minutes or so, she finally laid down, pouting. The, she dozed off. meanwhile, the duck flew off, like nothing had happened.

Another male lion a friend of mine has, loves to get wet. He loves to be wetted down in summertime to cool off. He also enjoys trips to the car wash to be pressure washed! He just sits there and enjoys it, and will tell you where he wants it next. You can always tell when we have been at the car wash, as the drain is matted up with lion's mane....
Lions can and do snore....

Kitty getting a bath is a Himalyan.....they are purebreed mixes of Persian and Siamese.........I can attest to the ease of bathing them. I have 2 left of 5 and have bathed them many times..........they become docile when getting a bath and typically don't resist.......probably a stress reaction. They have to be bathed or they will get horrible mats. I also dry mine with a hairdryer.............

Kats made great bed buddies.........One of mine greets me in the morning by sitting on my chest nose butting my mast or tapping it with her paw!!!!! I attribute my Kat Komfort to my CPAP as a plus of the ResMed quiet machine!!!!!

What a coincidence that you have the same cat!

Fine creature and a pleasure to own I would think.
Do you start to bathe them early on?
Is fur trimming part of the care?

Show a face photo of your Himalayan Puss,if it's not too much trouble.
I just love the mug of that cat!

Timbalionguy-you really are living the "Born Free" life huh?
Only in Nevada,sleeping with lions...woot!

Ha ha elg5cats,

I don't think he knows what your avatar is either!!!

5aces....I spent weeks perplexed by elg5cats avatar...I thought maybe it could be a huge ocean wave, or the eye of a hurricane from above, or uh...I just couldn't figure out what it was...it really bugged me and I'd try not to look at it...I realized it "might" have something to do with a cat and I thought I saw a quilt. Then the other day I was frowning at it again and all the sudden two cat eyes popped out at me and I could see the cat.

Ha ha elg5cats,

LOL, I didn't realize my avatar is such a mystery...........When I look at it I look right into the face of my darling KoKo....then see her ragged blanket covering her head.........her lifelong blanket that spand her lifetime of 17.5 years. I had postage stamps made of the same photo, I ownder if anyone recieving them found the Kat, LOL!!!! KoKo is a Seal Point Himalyian and soaking wet weighed in at 5.5 pounds. She was my mother cat who had 4 kittens that I could not part with and became Katmom to 5 Himmies. I have tons of neat picutres, I will try to add one of Blue Angel tomorrow who is a Blue Point Himmie.....will look more like the Himmie in the Video....I think the Video Himmie is a Flame Point which is a little red like pointed in color...not totally sure.....

It's bedtime....the snoring Sami is soundly asleep, snoring loudly by my side!!!! I can't believe how loud they can snore!!!
