What causes you to take off your mask?
Re: What causes you to take off your mask?
For the Quattro, have you done the "teflon fix"? Most of these masks leak around the elbow. Put the word "teflon" into the search box and you'll get lots of info on how to fix that.

I also remove the mask from the face every single night.
I am sure it is the sub conscious mind asking why something is on my mouth/nose.
I don't get enough sleep because of this problem.
No-one has the answer not even my Sleep facility.
I am sleepy every single day. If I rest on the couch because I have other sources of pain problem I am out for the count.
Then I wake up miserable because I haven't used the machine.
I find it a vicious cycle.
Is anyone else sleep and could nod during the day?
This OSA has ,it seems, has every avenue covered to make a person miserable.
Headaches-breathing problems-tired most of the time--dry mouth/nose. The list goes on.
We have to make the best of a very tough situation. I am for one knowing how hard it can be.

Re: What causes you to take off your mask?
What makes me take my mask off?
A pair of warm boobs against my back
Seriously though ... well yeah ... that does do it .... but I have never had a problem with taking the mask off because I was mad at it or having trouble with it.
It seemed the first time I put a mask on it was so great to sleep good that the mask never bothered me.
Oh I've had issues with face farts etc. as we all have. But the problems were never severe enough to make me rip it off.
Since I got my Quattro adjusted and figured out problems are rare. For some reason none of my swivels seem to leak or squeak.

Re: What causes you to take off your mask?
I take my Swift LT off during my sleep almost every night and I don't remember doing it. I also shut off the machine at the same time. Then I wake up about dawn, realize I don't have it on and put it back on for another hour or so. One night I slept a full eight hours with it on - that next day was awesome. Wish I could feel that way every day. My sleep doc said as long as you get five hours of sleep on the mask don't worry about it. I have only been using my CPAP for five weeks. I guess we have to give it more time! I also taped the "sidebars" of the mask to my face last night so I wouldn't take it off during my sleep - took it off anyway. Barely remember the pain of ripping off the tape.

Yep, I totally understand that. Mask and machine off. Weird.
I appreciate all of the feedback on this problem. I wonder if it is the sub-conscience mind doing it, for whatever reason. I know that my mask leaking around the bottom corners and sides drives me nuts and it seems to get worse the longer I sleep. My numbers still look good so maybe I just need to stop fixating on these leaks. Maybe they arent as bad as I think they are at the time.
I dont know. I am still new to all of this and still have alot to learn for sure and I think it might be time to get a nasal mask and try that.
