Post by montana » Mon May 04, 2009 3:08 pm

I have a laptop and I hit "print screen" and can't seem to paste encore pro charts into notepad. Any tips?

Sure use Paint, save as .jpg - notepad is for text.

Hold down the alt key when you press print screen. This loads it into the copy/paste buffer. Try wordpad or paint.

There is an utterly brilliant freeware program called IrfanView. I have been using it since 2002 & it started off good & has just got better n better n better.

It can be downloaded from ttp://www.irfanview.com/ as well as Tucows & CNET etc: etc:

Irfanview allows you to convert, resize, play slideshows & do lots of the popular stuff intuitively that programs like Photoshop do.

So whenever I manipulate a screen grab I will typically hit the ALT-PrtScr keys which capture the active window, I then open IrfanView & use EDIT-PASTE (toolbar) to get the screen grab. Then I put a box (using left mouse key to select starting point) around the part of the image I want & then choose EDIT-CROP SELECTION to trim the image then I will save it as a jpeg at 70% or 80% compression.

IrfanView is such an aide to me that I have it on every computer at home & work that I have to work on. It is so quick at doing all those grab, resize &convert tasks.

Good luck
