hello karala1958, the answer to that question is simple, our custom make masks are completely clear and very difficult to photograph even with a dark background therefore we provide artist renderings which are copied from the actual mask and suspension system. if you would like i could email u some live pictures of the mask. within 2 weeks our cable tv commercial will be added to our website where u can see a live person wearing the custom made mask. your also welcome to visit our office and lab.
Well that's very interesting, ia1234. In your first post you said you were a customer who looked all over to find a mask that fit until you found a company to build you a custom mask and you went on to highly recommended them.

In your second post you apparently are the company, or at least work for them, right?

If I misunderstood, then chalk it up to my chronic cynicism.

The question of inconsistently presenting who you are is one I am curious about and will hurt your credibility here unless you "come clean" immediately.

That is an interesting product. I am surprised it is a nasal mask. There are many good choices of off-the-shelf nasal masks and nasal pillows on the market and most people can find one they can live with.

What is more challenging is fitting a full face mask. Do you, or whoever, have any plans to introduce custom full face masks?

Also, what is the total cost of the custom nasal mask?

Don't forget the "come clean" part.

Now neighbor, would I ever jest on cpaptalk?

Was there an AWAKE meeting in April at Presby? They had one in February and were trying to have one every two months.

Do you remember the doc asking what topics we wanted to have at future meetings?

I told him we want to hear a doc and a DME explain how the patient could improve his therapy by tweaking his own CPAP settings.

I think maybe the doc has terminated the chapter.

ill give my full bio so everyone knows my history. i have sleep apnea like i said .... l spent around $5000 looking for a mask ... i found customfit and they were in need of someone like me who knows what to look for in a good mask. ive been working here for about 2-3 weeks already. my original post was not to try to publicize this company's name, thats not my job. i actually didn't write my second post, my employer did. his name is Abe. after reading the response about the issue with the website i thought that it was a great point and a problem that needed to be solved so i showed him the response i got.
asper your question rooster, we are currently working on a full face mask, that is my main job here now. we should have the full face mask up and running within 3 weeks. once it is done it will also be added to the website.

Five grand on masks???

Were you renting a Lamborghini to drive from DME to DME?

Sound like bullshit to me.

Hey ia1234,

What did you do with those $5000 worth of masks that you have? Since they don't work for you and it seems you already spent that money and can't get it back, why not donate the masks to people that cannot afford new masks, or masks at all? You could probably even get something for donating them-a tax thing- they do that with most donated items. I'm just thinking that there are a lot of people like myself that have to depend on the kindness of strangers for their CPAP equipment because some insurances, like Alabama Medicaid, do not pay for ANY CPAP items, nothing at all is paid for or partially paid for, so people in need of a CPAP mask go without because they can't afford it. Other states may pay, but Alabama Medicaid only pay for the sleep tests, no cures. So, if you still have all those masks, please donate it to the people that need them. PLEASE! If it weren't for the kindness of Respironics I wouldn't have my machine, and if it weren't for Kelly Rudolph of Hans Rudolph mask company I wouldn't have a mask that fits either. Please consider donating the masks and any used clean equipment that you have to the unfortunate people that cannot afford the luxury of breathing and sleeping at the same time.

I guess I should say that the last sentence I wrote is for everyone here on this cpaptalk.com list. Thanks everyone, and sorry I'm so cynical and skeptical about these expensive new masks. It just seems like a waste when so many needy individuals go without any masks at all.

Karla

Nasal masks cost range is from $50 to $100. Full face masks run from $90 to $190 and there are about 10 different models.

So one could buy around 65 to 75 different masks for $5000.

Wouldn't it be wise to stop around mask number 15 and think, "Whoa, there must be something wrong besides the mask"?

I think I would have budgeted $850 for masks, $2850 for 3.5 day Lamborghini rental, and put $1300 in reserve.

Some masks that i bought were well over $200, what about machines what about tubing what about suspension brackets what about that pillow thats just awful. and 10 different models? there are many more models than that .... iv also bought a bunch from overseas about 9 months ago which actually weren't bad but still were annoying me in the middle of the night. i do this and spend this because when it comes to my sleep ill spend what i need to make sure i do sleep. and common man, the Gallardo? if anyone were to spend that kind of money on a car it should be the Murciélago Roadster.

Karla1958- I'm sorry but i haven't felt the need to keep them when i didn't like them... but it is something that i will try to do from now on.

Don't forget... he's in Australia, and prices can be significantly higher there.

5,000.00 AUD = 3,730.40 USD.

One US dollar equals (presently) around 1.34 Australian dollars.

So a mask which runs $175 in the US would be Aus$234.50.

And then there are all those taxes, which can add up to a very significant percentage.

...Both previously finance professionals...
Aren't these the same kind of people who got us into the whole subprime mortgage mess?

Assuming the price is in Australian dollars, at $0.75 USD to $1 AUD that works out to $1087. I appreciate a good quality CPAP mask as much as any other sleep apnea sufferer, but unless you have a really unusual face that's hard to fit a mask to, i.e, like a severe facial deformity, I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a mask.
