Removing Silicone Earplugs From Mask Cushion?
Removing Silicone Earplugs From Mask Cushion?
I'm having trouble getting the silicone ear plugs that I put on my mask to come off of the cushion. I'm afraid to use any kind of solvent, since the mask is also made of silicone, and "scrubbing" harder runs the risk of tearing the delicate cushion. Does anyone have any tips for getting it off?
Re: Removing Silicone Earplugs From Mask Cushion?
I've had the same problem. Washing or using wet wipes doesn't seem to help, but I've found if I rub it carefully with my thumb, I can usually get some of it off. So far I've gotten tired of doing it before I've gotten it all off, so I keep working at it a little each day.

Re: Removing Silicone Earplugs From Mask Cushion?
I soaked my mask in warm soapy water (Ivory dish soap) for about 20 mins and rub gently with a baby washcloth and got it off.
Hope this helps.

Why do you put silicone ear plugs on your mask cushion?

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions. I'll have to try those and see if it gets easier.
dowen, the earplugs help to make the mask seal better to my face. I smash a silicone ear plug nearly flat, cut it into strips, then lay them around the cushion until I've got it completely covered. The ear plug is just sticky enough to stick to both the cushion and my skin, giving me a better seal. If you are having trouble with leaks, you might give this a try. It sure beats continuing to tighten the mask down.
