HELP!!! Air or Fluid under "skin" of eyeball???
ACKKKKK! I woke up this morning and I have a fluid or air pocket under the lining of my eyeball, it is in the corner on the side of my ear NOT near nose. I have a call into my eye Dr. Just curious if ANYONE else has had this happen??

That's gross. I'm glad you are checking with the Dr. I have never heard of that happening. Keep us updated.

i too am glad you are getting it checked- eyes are too delicate to take chances with- le us know what he says! you can get air in the tissues, they call it surgical empysema- i have seen it in some with a fracture rib that had punctured the muscle wall- the sking popped like bubble wrap when touched- it gradually absobed back into the body- i am not sure how you would get it in an eyebal though
Re: HELP!!! Air or Fluid under "skin" of eyeball???
The sinuses are connected to the eye, but just be aware this may be totally unrelated to CPAP as well. Let us know how you are doing, and most of all: slow, deep breaths.FatiguedMe wrote:ACKKKKK! Re: HELP!!! Air or Fluid under "skin" of eyeball???
Just a little reassurance: I have had this happen multiple times. For me, it was severe allergic reactions to pollen or something else that got in my eye. There is a membrane that covers your eye, and with irritation you can get fluid that builds up behind it. For me, it often feels like sand is in my eye, or something sharp. It will heal fairly quickly if that is all it is. I'm glad you are seeing an eye specialist. They can help you with possible prevetative ideas, as well as what will be the best way to heal now. In the meantime, you could try warm wet washcloths placed gently over your closed eye, to help with fluid drainage. No pressing! Make sure the washcloth is a clean one! The warmth may be soothing.

Re: HELP!!! Air or Fluid under "skin" of eyeball..UPDATE
Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for your care and concern. Just got back from eye Dr and going and getting a nasal mask. First of all I have something that starts with a P LOL long word and I can't even remember it. It has to do with being in the sunshine ALOT. He said "You must have played outside alot as a child." It is an air bubble which dissipates over the day. It is aggravated by the air from cpap blowing in eyes. The funny thing is I wasn't bothered by it at last night at all, didn't feel any air until this morning when I woke up. He gave me gel eye drops to put in eyes at bedtime and I am to use tthe regular eye drops during the day.
Again Thank you all for the care and concern. I will let ya know if this happens again! Or if my eyeballs pop out!

You may want to use eye ointment in your eyes before bed. I do and it helps.
Re: HELP!!! Air or Fluid under "skin" of eyeball???
Slow down.. The Ophthalmologist to the rescue. Yes, I am one. You can get it checked, but it is likely nothing to worry about. Allergies cause this. Try ice packs and OTC Zaditor 2x/day. If it is no better in 2 days, then get help. Likely has nothing to do with CPAP.
Sorry- I later read you went before I posted this. The "P" word is Pingueculum is not an acute process. I doubt that is the cause. Without seeing it, I still think what I wrote will be fine.

Re: HELP!!! Air or Fluid under "skin" of eyeball???
This happens to me all the time.....from my allergies. I am allergic to cat dander, and every time I go someplace that has cats this happens. I just put an ice pack on it and take an allergy pill and all is well. Funny...but the cats dont bother my nose much, just the eyes. So it took a while for me to figure it out.
