I found a great site for info

Post by Alik2Snooze » Fri Aug 12, 2005 2:18 pm

I'm new to this sleep apnea stuff and I've been online looking for good information about it and found this forum. I found another one http://www.talkaboutsleep.com which seems to me, to be much more dense with good information. This is just a message board, talkaboutsleep.com has way more information. The have a very nice and friendly staff that is available to talk to on the phone free.

They also sell equipment. Their prices are a few dollars (litterally) more than some others but I would gladly spend the few dollars more to help them out. They give away all their knowledge for free. I have insurance so I don't have to pay for my C.PAP so I don't use the online stores much.

I had to buy a mask once though and I got one of the PAPILLOWS. WOW are they awesome. It has helped me out so much with mask leak. I use a fisher paykel full face mask now and the double papillow totally got rid of the air leak around my cheeks. Horray!! Now I get to sleep all night!

I've been to that site too. They definitely rock! I'm not too sure about the pillow you were talking about. I went there and saw it and they have 2 sizes. The double edge pillow looks more comfortable than the mini one. I think I'm going to buy the larger one.

Thanks,

Ben

Frankly, I think TAS has less information than this site. I think this site has a wider spectrum of users than TAS. And we are always getting feedback from Johnny Goodman on what is new, what they are carrying like the Somnotech machine, and the staff is always willing to help you with problems around the clock. CPAP.com also has a much larger selection of products than the Sleep Shop on TAS does.

Howdy cpaptalkers,

We've resolved these two guest's IPs and they match. This means that the same person is posting under two guest names and wanting people to believe it is two different people. Tricky.

Clearly, there's a bias in the posts. I think there also may be a misunderstanding about our boards and our business.

The internet is such that the lowest cost and best information win. We understand that game and it shows in the way we run our business and our boards. We do not actively promote TAS, nor our other competitors. Neither do we delete their posts out of existance, though we expect that treatment from the other boards when we are mentioned.

Guest(s) - I'll save you the trouble and the effort of trying to slip your boys in again and again.

If you are looking for information on Sleep Apnea, here are the places you'll find it:

https://www.cpap.com

- Worlds Only: Dynamic Mask Sizing Guide, Complete CPAP Compare Charts, Complete APAP Compare Charts, Complete BiPAP Compare Charts, CPAP Video Library, Active Product Watch (Not Product Sales) Newsletter.

We also just launched a very sleek FAQ section. It has a ton of great info.

http://www.cpaptalk.com

CPAPopedia (soon to be merged into the new FAQ), Video Collection, Live Chat, Mfg Reviews, Streaming News, User Reviews, MyEncore

http://www.talkaboutsleep.com

I'll let guests posts stand in reference to what they offer.

http://www.apneasupport.org/index.php

Just lauched, its the ASAA (Of AWAKE Group Fame). It's a board and basic sleep apnea information. cpaptalker LDuyer volunteers for the ASAA and started it up with cpaptalker Mikesus I believe. Visit that site and they'll let you know. Also, I'm sure they'll follow up with more features.

So now all the cpaptalkers knew what they already knew. Please stop posting in sneaky ways.

Johnny

Thank you Johnny,

You certainly took the high road in your reply showing what a class act this forum is. That is one of the reasons it meets all my needs for Apnea.

I was about to respond when I saw your post so it has tempered my response. I have a real problem with people not being straight forward and especially truthful and it was clear Cary T was not an honest person. I particularly liked the way the poster exposed him/herself as the dolt they are by stating they are new to sleep apnea stuff but had to buy a mask once.

Just wish dishonest dolts could find there own forum somewhere and not waste everybody's time. I am also sure any legitimate organization would not really appreciate such underhanded tactics.

Thanks again Johnny for your most proper response and effort to keep this forum the best in the world.

I am new to CPAP but my distributer supplied links to all the forums available. I looked at the others but this was the one that impressed me most. Thanks guys, it's great to have access to your knowledge and experience.

I love cpaptalk.com and have found this to be the most informative forum dealing with OSA.

Well said, Johnny! And well handled.

I thought that first guest poster sounded like a commercial. Never thought about the second one being one and the same person. Sneaky, indeed!

I agree with unclebob: "I am also sure any legitimate organization would not really appreciate such underhanded tactics."

Posting in that way does them no favor, guest(s).

LOL, neversleeps!!

It was not that obvious until we had Johnny compare IP addresses for your three posts... only then it was it obvious they were all you.

Good for you Ben,

I just went to that site & the 1st thread I came across was someone called TuTuuu getting into a brainless argument with a group of others that was enough for me

Nup,
I'll stay here thanks Ben. I have met some great people here & now call this a home-from-home. I suspect I know where yours really is (courtesy of Johnny's expose )

Cheers

Johnny,

Gosh, never a dull moment on this forum!

Thanks for the ASAA forum mention.
You understand the difference between our two forums, for which I am personally grateful. As to all of these internet forums, friendly "competition" both for the commercial aspect and for patient help ultimately benefits us sleep apnea folks, in my personal opinion. It's fun to see all of these strive to add new features. But bottomline, regardless of whether they're good/mediocre or commercial/non-commercial, regardless of their motives, they all help sleep apnea sufferers and those wanting to know more about it. No offense, but it's these people that are the most important, more important, even, than any one discussion forum or DME provider (again, no offense intended). It's us who have waited a long time to be diagnosed. It's us who feel we've needlessly lost a chunk of our lives because of this condition. So any discussion is good.
..... But boy, this place sure gets lively!
